Dobber took some pictures of the event and he will post them up tomorrow. He’s flying back to Toronto right now.

Biggest surprise about Jeff Tambellini – his physical play. He isn’t big, but he finishes his checks. In leagues that count hits, his value is pretty good. He’s been a great surprise, but I am not sold yet (home town factor, can he keep this level of play yet, etc).

Last night was a blast – about four hours straight of fantasy hockey talk. I shared a few of my trade secrets, heard some from other people, and both asked and gave advice.

I find it amusing how many people have faced or are facing the debate – Karlsson/Carlson/Subban/McBain? I’d take Karlsson, just as I would have back in the summer. He’s the most talented, and in the long-term talent trumps all.

Heading to the Giants/Chiefs game tonight – anyone to watch on Spokane? Brendan Gallagher (Montreal draft pick) is my favorite Giant to watch, but I am unsure of whether he can translate his game to the professional level.

Thanks to those who came out to the River Rock in Richmond for the DobberHockey event last night. Our very own Marcus Schalle (he used to pen the ‘Looking Ahead’ feature each week) was the winner of the team-signed Canuck stick.

Michael Del Zotto was a healthy scratch for the Rangers last night. He’s been bad offensively and brutal defensively this season. Young defensemen (especially offensive ones) are so tough to predict early on in their career, since so much of their production is dependant on PP time.

A fantastic read on PK Subban here.

Rask got a rare start last night – 33 saves and a win against the lowly Isles.

Milan Lucic – who saw this coming? He scored again last night (twice), and is still second in the entire league in even strength goals scored.

The Islanders are 1-15-3 in their last 19 games. Pick a word – disaster, horrific, embarassment…

Savard recorded a helper for the Bruins as well.

Andrew MacDonald led the Isles defense in ice time last night. He is a very solid and underrated defenseman, but he won’t be fantasy relevant until the team gets better offensively.

Logan Couture continues his hot play – a goal and a helper last night. He’s my early season Calder favorite.

Thomas Vanek has seven goals in his past 10 games.

Patrick Marleau is a miserable minus-12 in his past 10. He has only four points during that span as well.

Andrej Meszaros is quietly fitting in very nicely for the Flyers. He was one of my favorites during his WHL days, but his promising NHL career was derailed by injuries and a massive contract. He looks to be bouncing back.

Meszaros is only on pace for 30-ish points, but I’d expect him to creep closer to 40 as the season progresses.

I overpaid big time for Tomas Vokoun in a one-year league two days ago (Spezza and Clowe). I was desperate for a goalie.  His shutout was nice to see, but I don’t get him in my lineup until tomorrow. Doh!

Look for Rene Bourque to be suspended after he speared Drew Doughty at the end of the Calgary/Los Angeles game last night.
