The Sharks Land White

Fantasy Impact: The San Jose Sharks have acquired Ian White from Carolina in exchange for 2012 2nd round draft pick.
The Sharks get: A right-shooting offensive defenseman. They didn't replace Rob Blake last summer after he retired, and their back end has been disjointed all season. White isn't an amazing defensive defenseman, but is capable of playing 20 minutes per game. Look for him to see a lot of power play time, as well. Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Jason Demers have both been very disappointing from an offensive standpoint.
Fantasy Players Impacted:
White's value increases dramatically. He was seeing only 1:31 per game on the power play with Carolina. That number should rise to at least three minutes with the Sharks. In Carolina, this opens up more ice time for Jamie McBain, and one of Brett Carson/Bryan Rodney.
Derek Joslin may sneak into the top six (he was acquired in a separate deal from San Jose earlier today), but the Hurricanes are still a defenseman or two short from icing a decent group of six.
Unfortunately for Cam Ward, it also means more ice time for Joe Corvo.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. White
2. McBain
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
1. Demers
2. Justin Braun (short-term)
