Zach Parise is very close to returning to the New Jersey lineup.
When Justin Goldman talks goalies, I listen. His awesome breakdown of James Reimer from last night's game is available here on his site.
Boston signed Boston University junior defenseman David Warsofsky, their 4th rounder from 2009. Warsofsky starred for BU during their 2009 championship year. He will play in the AHL for the remainder of the season.
Zdeno Chara has consecutive three-point games. Just in time for my H2H playoffs! Thanks Z.
Boston ventilated both Price and Auld last night. Gregory Campbell scored twice, including a 3-on-5 shorthanded goal. Krejci and Lucic both had three helpers. The Bruins are a scary team when they get offense from three or four lines (like they did last night).
Plekanec and Cammalleri were a combined minus-8.
Brad Marchand had a helper last night, his first point in seven games.
Robbie Schremp scored the winner against his former team last night.
Al Montoya was great for the Islanders, but he only received one goal (Tavares) of support. He is making a case for the Isles to keep him around next season. Poulin/Montoya duo with DiPietro lurking around? Do the Islanders go after a veteran presence instead?
Mark Streit isn't returning this season.
Dustin Byfuglien had a helper last night in addition to two PIM and four SOG.
Michael Grabner has 43 shots on goal in his last 10 games.
Dustin Jeffrey left the game with an injury last night.
Sergei Bobrovsky was handed the shootout loss, but he played a good game. The goaltending in Philadelphia around this time of the season will always be a hot topic, though. Don't forget about Michael Leighton either…
Before last night, the Flyers were 16-0-0 when Mike Richards scored a goal. Now 16-0-1.
It really is amazing what confidence in a goaltender can do for a team (Reimer and Toronto).
Say what you want about Phil Kessel (and I often say negative things), but he is going to score 30 goals for the third consecutive season.
Dion Phaneuf's two helpers last night – his first points in four games.
Erik Johnson had three helpers last night. A lot of his offensive upside for next season depends on what Colorado does with JM Liles.
Bryzgalov won't get nominated, but he should be in the discussion for the Hart Trophy. He fits Phoenix like a glove.
Oscar Moller had an assist and saw over five minutes of PP time.
Patrick Marleau has 15 points in his last 10 games. He scored with only a few seconds left to extend the game to OT/shootout. He has turned around what was a pretty poor offensive season with his strong March.
Nik Kulemin has four points in his last two games. He'll approach 30/30 next season with the potential for more. I could see a big spike in Toronto offensively if they can acquire a legitimate top line pivot.
Jaroslav Halak stopped 12 shots last night for the easiest shutout of his career.
Patrik Berglund missed his first game of the season last night with an injury.
Matt D'Agostini continues his hot play with another goal. He's the exact kind of player who can be the difference between first and second at the end of the fantasy season. The Blues have nothing to play for but he is auditioning for a spot with the team next year.
I have run out of words to describe how good Corey Perry has been this season. Two more goals and a helper last night. Perry is now the favorite to win the Rocket Richard.
Trotz on the Anaheim PP: “It starts there,” Trotz said. “You look at the power play with Teemu Selanne, who has scored about a million goals in this league, Ryan Getzlaf, Perry, Saku Koivu and Lubomir Visnovsky — they are going to score. That’s a pretty good unit.”
Selanne now has a million and two goals after lighting the lamp twice last night.
Sergei Kostitsyn is streaky, and he is in the middle of a hot stretch. Seven points in his last five games.
Ryan Getzlaf has four games in his past 10 where he has recorded at least three points. I'd like to say he'll win an Art Ross at least once in his career, but it will be tough with Crosby and Ovechkin around.
Jon Blum has four points in his last six games. Exactly why he cracked my top 10 keeper defensemen list! The Preds are very deep on the back end but talent and hockey sense always rise to the forefront.
Sean Avery has been a healthy scratch for the last four games. Apparently Tortorella isn't his biggest fan…
The Islanders have four 20+ goal scorers (Comeau, Tavares, Grabner, and Moulson). PA Parenteau is only two away from making it five.
Blake Wheeler has eight points in eight games. I've never been a fan of his (big, soft, inconsistent), but he is fitting in very nicely in Atlanta. I'd look at scooping him up this summer and I could see him scoring 25 goals and adding 30-35 assists next season.
My Puck Daddy piece from yesterday – check it out!
The fourth annual Prime Cuts team is close to being unveiled. This year, I am putting a contest together. The winner will receive an autographed 8×10 photograph (with certificate) of Teemu Selanne. More info on the contest here.
How excited are my readers and forum members about my DobberHockey Minors program? This excited. As you may (or may not) know, I have a semi-regular feature every week or two in which I pull a gem of an article from the forum and post it under the “Called up from the DobberHockey Minors” section. It’s a chance for a regular Joe who has always wanted to write some fantasy hockey columns to give it a shot and perhaps get recognition. If you get enough recognition, you could James Reimer your way onto the big club and get a regular column. That’s how we discovered our latest columnist Tim Lucarelli. Anyway, this section in the forum is where you submit your article and it is where they are holding a tournament to name the “DobberHockey Farm Team”. Loads of fun, and they’re looking for your vote on the best name in each “division”, eventually whittling it down to two finalists over the course of the next two weeks. Take a look!
I wonder if Ryan Suter played soccer growing up?
