Below I noted that Caron had been sent down to Providence. Well, he notched an assist in Sunday’s game for them and has now been recalled by the Bruins again.

I made a couple of deals on Friday. In my one keeper league that is points only, I shipped off Vladimir Tarasenko for Max Pacioretty and Matt Cullen. The latter player was a throw-in to get his points off of the other team – that team is tanking for the first overall pick. I gave away a future superstar –but in what league? If he was Joe Smith from out of the OHL, he is a Top 2 drafted prospect in hockey. But I didn't like the casual way he announced this past summer that he would be playing this season in the KHL. And personally, my gut says to me that it's 75-25 that he comes over.

The other deal I did was in the DobberHockey experts league. It was a deal done with Peter Hadley, who has climbed from the entry league up to the pro…and then from there up to the expert. So he's already a guy a fear! If you remember, goaltending, PIM and plus/minus were my strengths – goals, shots and PPP weakness. And sure enough, that's exactly what is happening. With Fleury and Bryzgalov staying active and probably never getting to the bench barring an injury, my other two goalies (Dubnyk and Khabibulin) are not being used. He was interested in Dubnyk and I gave him to him for Steve Mason and Dave Bolland. Bolland, believe it or not, was an upgrade on my No. 4 center (Desharnais) and Mason as a No.3 goalie is perfect.

I don't harbor a lot of hope for Steve Mason. But I do know that the Jackets have little choice in the matter. They can't afford another goalie, so for this year they will sink or swim with him. And even the worst teams go on one or two week hot runs. And, to top it off, Khabibulin has put together four pretty good starts and the Oilers are actually leaning on him.

Cody Franson has completely derailed. Reminds me of Luke Schenn's sophomore campaign (except Franson’s is his third…but this is his second FULL season). But Franson is a very intelligent offensive defenseman who is safe in his own zone… normally. It's obvious that this season will be one to forget. All year long. Drop him. And consider him a dark horse for the late rounds next year. He's only 24.

The latest on Jacob Josefson – 3-4 months. That's injuries in two consecutive years to kick off his NHL career. Already sour on him, unfairly or no. Now the team turns to Adam Henrique.

The Jackets have recalled John Moore from Springfield. I don't see any numbers coming out of him at this point.

Kurtis Foster scored in his season/Anaheim debut, playing just 10:33 and seeing a mere 30 seconds of PP time. He'd need to keep that up for several games, or I just don't see that ice time increasing. At this point, Cam Fowler's job on the top PP unit is beyond safe. Meanwhile, Lubomir Visnovsky tallied another two points. That gives him four in three games.  I had a few panicked emails about that guy.

Speaking of emails – sorry for not responding to ones requesting help. Hell, I'm still going through emails from September, let alone try to keep up with all the fantasy advice questions I get. Best to go to the forum, or send me a Q via the Hockey News fantasy mailbag section.

Patrick O'Sullivan was in the lineup for just the second time. Combined, he still hasn't seen 19 minutes this season. Give him two 18-minute chances and let's see what he can do. This seven minute stuff is just setting him up to fail. My money is on him not getting that chance. Easy money.

Andy Miele was recalled and he played 6:21. The Coyotes made room for him to stay thanks to their trading away Petteri Nokelainen yesterday.

Jonas Hiller got the hook after giving up five goals on 19 shots. Dan Ellis came in and stopped all 16 that he faced. Ellis has stopped 57 of 59 on the year. Hiller has stopped 124 of 139 (0.892 SP).

Alexander Burmistrov has five points in his last four games. I figured he would be several years getting to that 'break out' point, but he's showing indications that it may come a little early. The season is still young, however, and I don't think anyone on this team will get 65 points – so the term "break out" is certainly relative.

Shawn Matthias is coming off of a three-point game and he has played 28.5 minutes in his last two contests – the two games that he has seen the most ice time. Positive signs.

As a rookie, Ryan O'Reilly kicked things off (2009-10) with 14 points in 17 contests. He ended up with 26 in 81. Just to put his current seven points in eight games into perspective. He is first and foremost a defensive pivot. Some upside is there, but definitely not a point-per-game or anywhere close to that.

The Blues' coach Davis Payne benched TJ Oshie in the second period Saturday. We'll see if that gets the message across.

The Bruins have assigned Jordan Caron to Providence. It may be just to get some ice time, as the B's have a few days off right now.

Besides acquiring Nokelainen, the Habs sent down Enqvist and Palushaj and recalled Michael Blunden. Shaking things up in Montreal, we'll see if it works.

No surprise that Scheifele has been sent down, given the numbers and the ice time – but then again, it's a big surprise given what the coach said just a month ago. He made a big impression. Will he build on that? Or will he do what Zack Boychuk, Gilbert Brule and Carter Ashton did after making the team (or nearly making the team, in Ashton's case) early. Those three are still waiting to make their impact years later.

By the way, the line for me has been crossed – I said that Nugent-Hopkins would "have" to be allowed to stay if he managed seven points in nine games. He's already hit the seven-point mark. In seven games.

Tyler Ennis may have a sprained ankle (or worse). We'll get the official word today.
