Crosby

Not only does Harling dig up what little there is to find on injured players, this week he also puts together his “All-Concussion” Team.

Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins – Concussion – Indefinitely

Justin Bourne reports the latest on Sid's concussion status. Given the severity of his first concussion and how long it took Sid to recover, it is very concerning that the symptoms have returned after his bump with David Krejci. I can't help but remember Pat LaFontaine, and how his last concussion was incurred from bumping with a teammate on a line change.

Marc Staal, New York Rangers – Concussion – Indefinitely

The Blue Shirts United report Staal began skating with the Rangers in the morning skate for the first time since training camp. There is still no update on his return, but this is a good sign and generally after the first skate it is anywhere from 3-6 weeks.

Wojtek Wolski, New York Rangers – Hernia – Day-to-Day

Wolski also took the morning skate. He was wearing a non-contact jersey however, and is still some time away as he heals from his sport hernia surgery.

Jeff Skinner, Carolina Hurricanes – Undisclosed Day-to-Day

It has been widely speculated that Skinner received a concussion off a hit from Andy Sutton. Skinner missed the game in Winnipeg with "flu symptoms", and did not play in Toronto with an undisclosed injury. Chip Alexander Tweeted GM Jim Rutherford says Skinner will be evaluated by doctors in Raleigh. Coach Kirk Muller said Skinner did not have any concussion issues. For now, Skinner is listed as day-to-day

Here is the hit:

Claude Giroux, Philadelphia Flyers – Concussion – Indefinitely

The League leading scorer has officially been diagnosed with a concussion. As per USA Today, GM Paul Holmgren said “Over the past few days, his symptoms have gradually gotten worse. He will be out indefinitely with a concussion.”

Milan Michalek, Ottawa Senators – Concussion – Day-to-Day

Michalek scored his league leading 19th goal before he collided with teammate Erik Karlsson, and had to leave the game. AJ Jacubek tweeted Michalek has been updated with a concussion and coach Paul MacLean says Michalek feels much better today than he did last night.

Martin St. Louis, Tampa Bay Lightning – Eye – Indefinitely

St. Louis took a puck in the eye at practice and is out indefinitely. The hit caused facial and nasal fractures around his left eye. He is not permitted to do any physical activity until the blood subsides from his eye. Until that happens, there is no timetable for his return.

Taylor Hall, Edmonton Oilers – Hand –Day-to-Day

Hall is back on the ice and taking full contact practice with his teammates. He has been updated to day-to-day and could return soon

Zdeno Chara, Boston Bruins – Leg – Day-to-Day

The Bruins Captain has made the trip to Ottawa and will be a game-time decision if he plays.

Brian Gionta, Montreal Canadiens, – Lower-Body- Day-to-Day

Jacques Martin told the Montreal Gazette that he's out for an "indeterminate" period, and he won't play this week. Gionta's Iron Man streak ended at 153 games.

Here is the all-concussion team

Jeff Skinner – Sidney Crosby – Andy McDonald

Nino Niederreiter- Mike Richards – Peter Mueller

Milan Michalek– Marc Savard – Brayden Schenn

Matt D’Agostini – Marcel Goc – Jay Beagle

Kris Letang – Marc Staal

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – The Wilkes-Jarry Penguins

Elizabeth and Lewis are back to take listeners through a host of power play changes that are giving managers the opportunity to get exposure to great players off the waiver wire, including Philly, Jersey, and Tampa talk. They also cover Jarry’s AHL demotion, Cooley’s ascension to the top-line and powerplay, and injuries to Tavares and Hintz. The duo wrap up with some hot and cold streak deep dives, including discussion of the Red Wings crazy powerplay success in the last ten games, whether Erik Gustafsson is rosterable or an overperforming illusion, Fantilli’s continued success, Merilainen as Hamburglar 2.0, and whether Schenn’s success and Neighbours’ lack thereof are likely to continue.

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – Thanks for Vejmelkmories

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.
