News to no one, but Boston is so deep and so talented up front. They had 10 forwards with points yesterday against the Devils. No forward played less than 10 minutes (Thornton) and no forward played more than 17 (Peverley and Marchand). Impressive stuff.

Larsson and Tallinder were a combined minus-8 for the Devils.

According to GM Bob Murray, the only untouchables in Anaheim are Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu. Interesting…

FREE – Last year’s Midseason Guide. I think the midseason edition is just as helpful as the preseason one and to prove it to you I want you to look at what we did last year. The information that it gives – prospects, half-season projections, tidbits, trends, college free agents, KHL thoughts – WILL help you for the second half. So read last year’s version, enjoy it, and be convinced. Pick up last year’s Midseason Guide for free right here.

Dobber’s THN mailbag from yesterday here.

John Tortorella was given a $30,000 fine for criticizing officials after the Winter Classic. Will be interesting to see how Rangers games are called in the coming weeks…

Lightning GM Steve Yzerman was in Vancouver last night to get a look at Josh Harding. (Why else would he be there?)

Watched most of the Montreal/Winnipeg game, and all of the Vancouver/Minnesota game. I'll give my thoughts on those two and update the other games throughout the day.

Lars Eller had four goals (the fourth coming on a spin-o-rama penalty shot). We have seen glimpses of his upside this season – very assertive player who has shown both skill and toughness. He is a great skater for such a big body, too. Put himself in some great spots tonight and benefitted from some nice passes. Fantastic game from him, and he's looking every bit like the prospect St. Louis wanted a few years ago in the first round.

Eller also added an assist for the five point game. Lots of good young Danish hockey players right now – Eller, Hansen, Nielsen, and a few others (including recent Canucks first rounder Niclas Jensen).

Erik Cole played a whopping 27 minutes last night – insane numbers for a forward. He was simply dominant, finishing with two assists and a ton of great chances. He's been Montreal's best forward for the last few months (by far).

Moen and Kostitsyn combined for five assists (yes, they played with Eller).

Winnipeg's defensive coverage was horrendous. So many blown plays and odd-man opportunities against. Pavelec was lit up but he didn't stand a chance on many of the goals.

The Sedins/Burrows line was unbelievably good last night, completely dominating the Wild shift after shift. They combined for five points and could have had another six. Josh Harding had a strong game.

Roberto Luongo is on his game right now. Will be interesting to see who starts on Saturday in Boston (yes, I am a bit excited for this one). He made a few huge stops on Devin Setoguchi, who in his return was easily the most dangerous Wild forward.

Nice to see Jared Spurgeon back playing after the nasty hit from behind. Good undersized defenseman with some fantasy upside.

Clutterbuck is seeing lots of PP time and tied Setoguchi for the team lead with five shots on goal.

More coming later on this AM. Busy working away on the Midseason Guide, as well!

Eller's fourth was a thing of beauty:

The Sedins make tough plays look so easy:
