The 2011-12 Midseason Guide is now posted. Enjoy!

Luke Adam has one point in his last 12 games.

Derek Roy left the game early into the first with an upper-body injury. From Die by the Blade:

“Only four players on the Sabres roster are going to be able to finish the season with 82 games played: Thomas Vanek, Jason Pominville, Luke Adam, and Derek Roy. If Roy is not able to play against the Jets on Saturday night, that number goes down to three.”

Rhys Richards takes a look at some New Year’s Resolutions for the Red Wings.

“7. Valtteri Filppula's New Year's resolution is to continue his offensive breakout. Filppula is tied for second on the team in scoring with 33 points. He has 13 goals and 20 assists to go with a remarkable plus-12. At 27, Filppula has been due for a breakout campaign, but injuries have undercut his efforts both of the last two seasons. The most Filppula has ever scored for Detroit was 40 points in 80 games in 2008-2009. He tallied 39 points in 71 games last season. Filppula has arrived, and he should achieve his resolution in the 2012.”

Three points and six shots on goal for Eric Staal last week night. Staal now has eight points in his last four games…

Three points for Elias in his 1000th game (all with the Devils). Parise and Kovalchuk each had two points.

Zajac missed the game with his achilles issue acting up.

Jordan Staal took a knee from Mike Rupp last night (didn't look intentional to me), and he didn't return. Didn't look good…. Similar to the Booth hit from last month. The Pens can only stop the bleeding for so long with all of these injuries to significant players.

The NHLPA has blocked the proposed realignment for next season. Doesn't bode well for future CBA talks…

The Stars changed their lines up the other night, and it seemed to help.

"Heading into the game against Nashville, the Stars got Stephane Robidas back from injury and coach Glen Gulutzan decided to roll with seven defensemen in the game. The odd-numbered forwards then provided the coach with the opportunity to shake things up on the top lines, swapping Loui Eriksson and Steve Ott and then finding more opportunities for Tom Wandell. The result was another solid team performance with balanced scoring up and down the roster, as well as one heck of a game from Mike Ribeiro."

The Preds have made a change at the backup goalie position, and the struggling Jon Blum has been sent down as well. The move is to get Lindback some more ice time. Jeremy Smith is coming up from Milwaukee.

"I’ll admit to being a little surprised here that it’s not Ryan Ellis getting sent back instead, given the fact that he was scratched last night as well. Under the current CBA, if Ellis hangs around on Nashville’s Active Roster for 40 games (whether as a healthy scratch or not), this will count as an Accrued Season towards him earning Unrestricted Free Agent status somewhere down the road."

Oilers prospect goalie Tyler Bunz apparently looks up to current Oilers goaltender Khabibulin too much…

"The Medicine Hat Tigers starting goalie and Edmonton Oiler pick has been charged with impaired driving following an incident in his hometown of St. Albert last May. Tyler Bunz, 19, has entered a not guilty plea to two drunk driving related allegations with his trial on the charges scheduled for March 5, 2012. None of the allegations have been proven in court. Tigers general manager Bob McEwen said the hockey club is currently not commenting on the matter."

Simon Gagne will be out for "a while" with a concussion. The best natural scorer (outside of Kopitar) on a team lacking any on the wing… not good news.

Bill Clinton with a salute to Jagr (or Rupp):

Puck drop at 1pm EST today…. A refresher:
