Tuesday Night Additions

Tuesday was a rough night for fantasy owners of the following players:

Joffrey Lupul, Toronto Maple Leafs – Upper Body Injury – Day-to-Day

Lupul left the game after taking a hit from Boston's David Krejci. Lupul is out with a separated shoulder, sidelined 3-4 weeks.

Jakub Voracek, Philadelphia Flyers – Upper Body Injury – Day-to-Day

Voracek is the latest victim of a massive hit from Detroit's Niklas Kronwall. Another possible concussion

Jaromir Jagr, Philadelphia Flyers – Hip – Day-to-Day

The Flyers are riddled with injuries and Jagr joins the limping wounded with a hip injury

Matt Duchene, Colorado Avalanche – Ankle – Day-to-Day

Duchene got tangled up with Kyle Palmieri of the Minnesota Wild and needed help off the ice. He did not return and was unable to put any weight on one leg. An update should be available later on Wednesday

Mathieu Garon, Tampa Bay LightningGroin – Day-to-Day

In a play that was very similar in appearance to the Tuukka Rask injury Garon left Tuesdays game with a groin injury. The tear will cause him to be sidelined 3-4 weeks, making Dustin Tokarski a fantasy option.

Brandon Dubinsky, New York Rangers – Hand – Day-to-Day

Dubinsky suffered a hand injury in a fight with Devils Ryan Carter in Tuesday's game.

Colby Armstrong, Toronto Maple Leafs – Upper Body Injury – Day-to-Day

Armstrong hit Bruins Seidenberg in a vulnerable position near the boards. Seidenberg took exception and bet up Armstrong pretty good. Armstrong was bleeding after the fight.

Chris Phillips, Ottawa Senators – Broken Nose – Day-to-Day

Phillips suffered a broken nose in the first period and did not return. He is day-to-day.

Other New Additions

Kris Letang, Pittsburgh Penguins – Concussion – Day-to-Day

Letang received another serious hit and concussion as a result, this time as a result of a hit from Dallas forward Eric Nystrom. The hit was questionable and Jeremy Roenick and Mike Milbury had a heated debate over it on NBC

James Van Riemsdyk, Philadelphia Flyers – Broken Foot – Four to Six Weeks

After returning from Concussion just over a week ago, JVR is right back on the IR Report. This time with a broken foot that required surgery to repair it.

Kimmo Timonen, Philadelphia Flyers – Lower back – Indefinite

Timonen has a back injury and may have been trying to play through it recently as his average ice time dipped from over 21 minutes to around 14 minutes in the last few games.

Andrei Meszaros, Philadelphia Flyers – Lower Body Injury – Indefinite

There has been no disclosure on the nature of Meszaros injury, but there is some speculation it is a groin injury.

Tuukka Rask, Boston Bruins – Groin – Six Weeks

Rask went down awkwardly making a save and hurt his groin. Early to mid April is the expected return time.

Jimmy Howard, Detroit Red Wings – Groin – Day-to-Day

Howard had an ultrasound done that revealed no significant damage to his groin.

Niklas Backstrom, Minnesota Wild – Groin – Two to Four Weeks

Another goalie felled by a groin injury.

Mike Cammalleri, Calgary Flames – Upper Body Injury – Day-to-Day

No details on the injury he suffered in the game against Dallas, or if it will cost him to miss more that Tuesdays game against his old team the Montreal Canadiens.

Zach Bogosian, Winnipeg Jets – Wrist – Week-to-Week

Bogosian re-injured his wrist in the game against Florida last Thursday. The Jets did not play over the weekend and Bogosian was unable to practice. He did not play on Monday and Ken Wiebe of Sun Media Tweeted "head coach Claude Noel said he still was not sure if D Zach Bogosian was going to travel on this road trip to Van and Calgary"

Updates

Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins – Concussion – Indefinite

Crosby received medical clearance to participate in full contact on Tuesday. He said he has been symptom free for a few days and will take part in practice. Crosby said to reporters he got a "decent amount" of contact in practice. This is a significant step in his return, and if after a few days he remains symptom free he may begin to consider looking at returning. As for now, there is still no time table for his return.

Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks – Concussion – Day-to-Day

Its official, the Hawks have confirmed that Toews is concussed. Still no confirmation as to when he suffered the concussion or if the car crash is related. Coach Joel Quennville told the Chicago Sun Times Toews had a "good day off the ice". Having a good off ice work out is a good sign, but he is still a ways away from returning to a game.

Andrei Markov, Montreal Canadiens – Knee – Indefinite

Markov has been skating for several weeks now and now been given medical clearance to participate in full practice with the team. It is likely he will see some action this season after all.

Vincent Lecavalier, Tampa Bay Lightning – Hand – Indefinite

Vinny was skating on Tuesday in order to maintain his conditioning. He is still not able to use a stick but a return this season is still possible.

Craig Anderson, Ottawa Senators – Finger – Day-to-day

Anderson was back on the ice on Tuesday in full equipment to practice. The injured finger is on his right hand, his blocker hand. The injury prevents him from being able to grasp his stick, but he was holding a shaft of a cut stick. As the hand strengthens he will begin to use a whole stick.

Martin Havlat, San Jose Sharks – Groin – Indefinite

Mr. Glass was back on the ice on Monday for the first time since injuring his groin by stepping onto the ice.

Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings – Knee – Day-to-Day

Datsyuk resumed skating on Monday as he recovers from knee surgery.

Nicklas Backstrom, Washington Capitals – Concussion – Indefinite

After being placed on LTIR, Backstrom has now returned to Sweden to be with his family as he attempts to recover from his concussion. The Capitals are still hopeful he returns this season and that he would be available for the playoffs. That is highly unlikely.

Back In Action

Unfortunately the list of recently injured players is longer than those who returned, but Victor Hedman made his return on Tuesday. Boston's Johnny Boychuk returned from a concussion. Captains Zach Parise and Ryan Callahan also returned after short absences. The two last picks from the NHL All-Star draft Logan Couture and Jamie Benn were also back in the lineup. Recently re-acquired Kyle Quincey is back on Detroit's blue line and Nikolai Khabibulin is back in goal for the Oilers.
