Glen Gulutzan Fired!
Dobber Sports
2013-05-14
Fantasy Impact: The Dallas Stars have fired their head coach, Glen Gulutzan. The team’s new general manager, Jim Nill, wants his own man in place. Assistant coach Paul Jerrard has also been let go.
Until we know more about who the next head coach will be, it’s tough to speculate on which players this will help. The goaltending coach Mike Valley has been retained, so it should be status quo as far as Kari Lehtonen is concerned. And star players such as Jamie Benn shouldn’t be affected, as he will do well regardless. A slumping player like Loui Eriksson probably gets a kick in the pants fromt his move, but he was likely to rebound in 2013-14 regardless.
Rumors swirl about the team possibly giving the other assistant coach – Curt Fraser – a shot. As well, the team may wait and see what happens in Vancouver with the Alain Vigneault situation. And of course you can never discount Lindy Ruff, who may be the best coach available on the market.
