The latest injury news for week two of NHL hockey.

 

The season is in full swing as we finish week two. There have already been some significant injuries that will affect your fantasy hockey decisions. Here is the latest injury updates:

 

ANAHEIM – Kyle Palmieri (ankle) is still not skating as the news is not promising on his high ankle sprain. Suffered a setback in camp.

 

ANAHEIM – Dany Heatley (groin) is targeting a return to the Anaheim Ducks line-up for their game against the San Jose Sharks on October 26.

 

CALGARY – Sam Bennett (shoulder) will miss 4-6 months after undergoing shoulder surgery. He will be sent back to Kingston (OHL) once he is healthy.

 

CAROLINA – Andrej Sekera (upper body) took part in the morning skate but will not play against the New York Rangers.

 

CAROLINA – Jeff Skinner (concussion) is travelling with the team and back at practice but not taking line rushes. Carolina Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters says, "Skinner is real close."

 

CAROLINA – Eric Staal (upper body) left Saturday's game with an upper body injury and missed Tuesday's game. Return timeline unknown.

 

CAROLINA – Jordan Staal (leg) will miss 3-4 months after undergoing leg surgery.

 

COLUMBUS – Cam Atkinson (undisclosed) was back on the ice after missing practice on Wednesday.

 

COLUMBUS – Brandon Dubinsky (lower body) will miss at least six weeks after undergoing surgery on both sides of his groin.

 

COLUMBUS – Nathan Horton (back) has a degenerative back condition that will keep him sidelined for an undermined amount of time.

 

COLUMBUS – Boone Jenner (hand) underwent surgery to repair his broken hand and isn't expected to return until November.

 

COLUMBUS – Ryan Murray (knee) practiced on Wednesday and appears to be nearing a return. Columbus Blue Jackets head coach Todd Richards suggests that a return Friday is a possibility.

 

DALLAS – Valeri Nichushkin (groin) will miss 7-10 days before he can practice with the team again after leaving practice early. He is dealing with a lingering groin/hip flexor issue.

 

DALLAS – Sergei Gonchar (ankle) was placed on IR on October 7 and will miss 3-5 weeks due to a fracture in his ankle.

 

 

EDMONTON  – Viktor Fasth (groin) left Tuesday's game and was placed on IR on Wednesday.

 

EDMONTON – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (undisclosed) missed Tuesday game. According to Edmonton Oiler's head coach Dallas Eakins Nugent-Hopkins is "bruised up all over."

 

LOS ANGELES – Marian Gaborik (undisclosed) is out indefinitely as he is still dealing with an injury from camp.

 

LOS ANGELES – Jake Muzzin (upper body) took part in the optional skate on Monday. There is no timetable for a return

 

ISLANDERS – Michael Grabner (hernia) will miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing successful sports hernia surgery.

 

ISLANDERS – Lubomir Visnovsky (back) was on the ice for optional morning skate this is the third consecutive day as he slowly progresses towards a return.

 

RANGERS – Dan Boyle (hand) will be out 4-6 weeks with a broken hand.

 

RANGERS – Derek Stepan (leg) will miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured fibula.

 

PHILADELPHIA – Kimmo Timonen (leg) will not play for a period of time here, meaning months, according to Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall.

 

PHILADELPHIA – Vincent Lecavalier (foot) wore a boot on foot after Mark Streit's shot him. He will miss two weeks.

 

PITTSBURGH – Beau Bennett (leg) will miss six weeks with a lower body injury.

 

ST. LOUIS – Patrik Berglund (upper body) practiced on Monday on a line with David Backes and T.J. Oshie. He is questionable for game against the Los Angeles Kings.

 

TAMPA BAY – Jonathan Drouin (thumb) sent down to Syracuse (AHL) for a two-week conditioning stint.

 

TAMPA BAY – Radko Gudas (lower body) is day-to-day with a lower body injury.

 

TORONTO – Joffrey Lupul (lower body) is out for an unknown amount of time after tweaking his lower body. He is doubtful for game on Friday against the Detroit Red Wings.

 

TORONTO  – David Booth (lower body) will miss at least six weeks or longer.

 

VANCOUVER – Bo Horvat (shoulder) skated on his own on Tuesday and could be ready this weekend.

 

WINNIPEG – Evander Kane (knee) will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice felt the news was positive.
