Between the Lines: Week 13

The hottest lines in fantasy hockey for Week 13.

This week saw the shortened week drive everyone's bottom line nuts. Now it is time to go "Between The Lines".

Lead Us Forwards

Martin EratMartin HanzalSam Gagner (Arizona) – What the hell? Is this thing working correctly? Oh, it is. I guess we should talk about them as they topped the list with eleven combined points. Arizona needed some line to start clicking because Mike Smith is not going to stop too many pucks anytime soon it seems. The fact that Sam Gagner had six points this week went almost completely unnoticed by most of the fantasy universe. It was like it never happened. This line is not bad but they are not world beaters either.

Tyler JohnsonNikita KucherovOndrej Palat (Tampa Bay) – You thought the Steven Stamkos line would be here but shame on you. Johnson is a player I have touted from day one and he has not disappointed along with Nikita Kucherov. This trio had ten points when together and could have had more. It is a nice "second" line to hop on when the Stamkos line is constantly jammed up by the opposition. Last week was also kind of goofy when you consider this was the top played line at even strength at 17.4% which is not saying much.

Defend This

Seth JonesRoman JosiShea Weber (Nashville) – Four is the appropriate word as to the number of points Roman Josi got whether he was with Seth Jones or Shea Weber. Weber and Josi wound up with three points each. Nashville can be a bit of a magnet for defensemen points especially with how the Mike Fisher and Filip Forsberg lines are working. Nashville still finds favorable match-ups so roll the Josi and Weber duo at an every game start status.

T.J. BrodieMark Giordano (Calgary) – They were welcomed back on this list with open arms. Brodie and Giordano had a couple points each and that was fine given the abbreviated week. That three day break really drove fantasy owners batty and this week with an inverted heavy schedule on Monday and Wednesday, some owners may be able to catch others napping. Pay attention to schedules and who they favor. Brodie and Giordano have a couple good opportunities to put up some points, especially in theory against Los Angeles. Surf's up!

Marco ScandellaJared Spurgeon (Minnesota) – If only these two players could stay healthy more, they would be a hell of a second pairing behind Ryan Suter and whoever he plays with. They had four points as a duo and really they left a few on the table too. The key is health for them and that is painfully obvious as Minnesota struggles from all angles continues. As chaos increases in the land of the Wild and even the forwards succumb to injury, this pairing will need to continue to step up on the offensive end which will mean more defensive breakdowns. This is a chance they must take which is ultimately better for fantasy owners in the long run.

As always you can follow me @ChrisWasselTHW and thanks for reading. See you next week with four more line combination and three pairings for "Between The Lines".
