Leafs Sign PA Parenteau

Fantasy impact: The Toronto Maple Leafs sign right wing P.A. Parenteau to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million.
The Leafs get: A forward that was recently bought out by the Canadiens after scoring 22 points in 56 games last season and a few healthy scratches. However, PA Parenteau has been a more impactful scorer in the past, scoring 67 points in 2011-12 with the Islanders.
Fantasy players impacted: Parenteau.
The good news for P.A.: With Phil Kessel gone, he'll have a real opportunity for top-6 minutes and maybe even top-line minutes with Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk (assuming that the Leafs don't make any other moves, like trading Bozak). Parenteau is also a possibility for the second line with Nazem Kadri and Joffrey Lupul.
The bad news for P.A.: Bozak does not possess the skill level of Parenteau's former linemates John Tavares or Matt Duchene, so any gain from time spent on the Leafs' top line will reach a limit.
In the end: With the Leafs well into their rebuild, Parenteau could simply be a trade deadline chip that the Leafs use to acquire a draft pick or a prospect. The Leafs haven't made a long-term commitment to him anyway.
Fantasy players this helps:
1. Parenteau
2. Bozak
3. Kadri
Fantasy players this hurts:
The July 1 acquisitions of veterans Parenteau and Mark Arcobello may slightly slow the progression of prospects William Nylander, Kasperi Kapanen, and Mitch Marner. But at the moment, the Leafs don't have very many proven forwards to fill out an NHL roster anyway.
