    how can Yandle be 3rd?

I get thats its a formula not just a list youre making off the top of your head, but the formula may be flawed if Yandle comes out 3rd. I wouldnt have em in my top 10 even.

Not really looking for a detailed explanation just curious how a guy who struggled so much last year, can come out ahead of guys like Hedman, Byfuglien, Josi, heck even Burns and Giordano way down the list are superior.

    • isle b. 2015-08-07 at 03:57

Agreed. Yandle should be 15th at the highest, maybe even lower than that.

Maybe because the guy who "struggled so much" had a 52-point season? More than Hedman and Buff, and 3 points shy of Josi who had never come close before.

    • donions 2015-08-06 at 21:22

If you wanna completely ignore games played sure he outproduced those guys. You take Yandle, ill take any of the rest plus quite a few others over him :D

For the record, I'd eprsonally take Hedman over Yandle in a keeper. I just don't htink Yandle's ranking is outrageous.

First, you can't compare over one season. You have to take into account that Yandle's been a consistent point-producing defenceman for years. If you just take Buff as a comparable, he's outscored him 4 out of the last 6 seasons. I'm not syaing they're miles apart, but yes, I don't think it's crazy to have Yandle ranked above.

As for "games played", that's actually quite relevant. Yandle hasn't missed a single game in the last 6 seasons. That has value too.

Ill admit I kinda glossed over Yandles #'s last 2 years, going more off the eye-test, just doesnt seem to be as dynamic as he used to be.

Youre right his ranking isnt outrageous at all, it just really stuck out to me seeing him at 3 when hes been so forgotten in my pool, nobody considers him anywhere near a top 5 dman.. Maybe I should try to buy low….but I dont like him that much haha

Great list.  I love the OEL is #5 (where he belongs), and Muzzin (who won a cage match against OEL lol) is #49.

Hard to believe that Zdeno Chara is not one of the top 100 defensemen. Despite it being for keeper leagues and despite him being half the defenseman he used to be, I'd still pick him up for a couple more years.

    • isle b. 2015-08-07 at 04:02

Yes. I understand rating younger players with upside over him, but if there is room for Kris Russell or Dion Phaneuf here, then there ought to be room for Chara.

For the life of me, I still can't figure out these weird number rankings.
