The Flames get: Ryan, a center who is another former Hurricane to play under new Flames’ coach Bill Peters. Ryan is a 31-year-old late bloomer who scored 38 points (15g-23a) in his second full NHL season last season. Czarnick has scored 17 points (5g-12a) in 59 games combined over the past two NHL seasons split between Boston and the AHL.
Fantasy Players Impacted:
Ryan is being brought along with a coach that obviously has faith in him, which should at least prolong his NHL career. Ryan should not only provide decent depth scoring for the Flames, but he should also be counted on in the faceoff circle, where he has won 55-56% of his faceoffs over the past two seasons. Calgary as a team finished in the bottom half of faceoff winning percentage, so Ryan’s addition should at least help in that area. Expect Ryan to fill a third-line role with the Flames, as the Flames appear set on the top two lines with Sean Monahan and Mikael Backlund at center.
Ryan’s addition could cost Mark Jankowski and even Sam Bennett for minutes. Particularly Jankowski, who took more faceoffs and lost more faceoffs than he won (48.8% FOW%).
