Fantasy Impact: Pittsburgh Gets Carter

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Jeff Carter from the Los Angeles Kings for a 2022 conditional third-round pick and a 2023 conditional fourth-round pick.
The Penguins get: A former Team Canada teammate of Sidney Crosby's and a two-time Stanley Cup winner. Carter brings tremendous experience to the team. Although he is a six-time 60-point player and one-time 84-point player, those days are far behind him. He is good for the secondary PP unit and secondary PK unit.
The Kings get: Two draft picks, and a bit of cap space for next season (Carter is signed through 2021-22).
Fantasy Players Impacted: Carter will see a short-term upgrade in his linemates as he slots into the second line at center. Longer term, when Evgeni Malkin returns from injury, Carter will play on the third line. His production is unlikely to improve, other than maybe that initial "new team adrenalin" that some players get for a few games after a trade.
Freeing up a spot in Los Angeles will mean more ice time for the likes of Gabriel Vilardi, Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Matt Luff, Carl Grundstrom and Blake Lizotte.
