Fantasy Impact: Mattias Janmark to the Golden Knights, Carl Soderberg to the Avs

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded forward Mattias Janmark and defenseman Nick DeSimone to Vegas (via San Jose), along with a fifth-round pick (to San Jose to retain some salary) for 2021 second- and a 2022 third-round picks.

The Hawks also traded Carl Soderberg to the Avalanche for Ryder Rolston and Josh Dickinson.

The Blackhawks get: Picks, prospects and cap relief. Ryder Rolston is former NHLer Brian's son, and Josh Dickinson is the brother of Dallas forward Jason. Chicago has done piddly little moves that seem meaningless, but look at the overall result:

They only moved out players who weren't a part of their team next season. And for this, they added some great draft picks and reasonable prospects. Borgstrom in particular has really good upside.

Josh Dickinson's fantasy scouting profile here.

The Golden Knights get: A third-line winger who can chip in 40-plus points. Although he had his streaky moments, Janmark was miscast in the top six. But Chicago didn't have the depth to offer a lot of options.

The Avalanche get: Soderberg back in the fold. Soderberg can replace Tyson Jost at the faceoff circle, as he is at a 51.5% FOW this year.

Fantasy Players Impacted: Soderberg's production has been slipping bit by bit over each of the last two seasons. Now 35, it is doubtful this trend will reverse. The move knocks Jost out of the top nine. The addition of Janmark likely pushes Keegan Kolesar or Ryan Reaves to the press box.

With Soderberg and Janmark gone, the ice time will pick up for youngsters such as Philipp Kurashev, Pius Suter, Dominik Kubalik, Brandon Hagel, as well as newcomer Vinnie Hinostroza.

Fantasy Players This Helps, In Order:

  1. Philipp Kurashev
  2. Pius Suter
  3. Dominik Kubalik
  4. Brandon Hagel
  5. Vinnie Hinostroza

Fantasy Players This Hurts, In Order:

  1. Mattias Janmark
  2. Tyson Jost
  3. Carl Soderberg
  4. Keegan Kolesar
