Cole Caufield will get another chance to make a run at the Calder Trophy, as was recalled from the AHL on Thursday. Caufield made the most of his time there, scoring two goals and adding three assists in six AHL games. If he was dropped in your single-season league, he is definitely worth a speculative pickup, particularly in deeper leagues. The Habs have now lost four games in a row and look like a complete disaster at the moment, so their current woes may cut into Caufield's production (just one point in 11 games) if you're using last season's playoff run as a baseline.

Making his second consecutive start, Cayden Primeau was chased from the net after allowing five goals in two periods. How soon can Carey Price return to game action? He has at least returned to the ice this week. Since Jake Allen is also sidelined, the Habs will run a Primeau/Sam Montembeault combination for now. You'd be best to avoid that.

The Penguins' scoring star in their 6-0 win over Montreal was Teddy Blueger, who filled the statsheet with two goals, an assist, a plus-4, and five shots. Blueger managed to make it work with Zach Aston-Reese and Brock McGinn. Blueger and McGinn have been joined at the hip for much of the season as linemates, which may limit the offense that either is capable of.

Sidney Crosby scored his first goal of the season in his fourth game, while Tristan Jarry recorded his first shutout of the season in his 13^th game. Jarry has quality starts in four of his last five games.

Oliver Kylington is showing at the top of the popular Frozen Tools search results because he keeps piling up the points. With an assist on Thursday, Kylington now has points in 11 of his last 12 games. The incredible part is that he's doing it with little to no power-play time! Unless he finds a way to sneak onto the power play more often (he did play on PP2 on Thursday), I'd try to find a way to sell high, as that kind of production doesn't seem sustainable given his current deployment (16:35 TOI, 00:20 PPTOI, 51.1 OZ%). Not that he can't be an effective fantasy defenseman, but that you shouldn't expect a point per game over the long haul. I didn't see this kind of production coming, and I don't think a lot of others who study the fantasy game did either.

Jacob Markstrom posted a 27-save shutout against the Sabres. He has a bit of a weird statline this season. Over 13 games, he has six wins, but five of those six wins have been shutouts (currently leads the league in SO). So do the math and you'll see that Marky has allowed a combined one goal over those six wins. Because of his hot first month of the season, Markstrom was one addition to the November edition of the Top 100 Roto Rankings.

Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau each recorded three points in the Flames' 5-0 win over Buffalo. Tkachuk entered this game with just a single point in his last five games, so this should help those who have been patient with him.

If you watched Andrew Mangiapane before this season, you would have noticed the raw ability, particularly the wheels. With another two goals on Thursday, Mangiapane is now at 12 goals, which ties him for second with a bunch of other players. What's more, the Bread Man fired a team-leading eight shots. A 27.3 SH% means that the goals will eventually cool off, and just two assists means that he might not be contributing to your fantasy team as much as you might think. But the talent is there for yet another smaller player (5-10) who had to prove himself more than others all the way back to his junior days.

Hopefully you received the Goalie Post notification to start Spencer Knight. The rookie put on a goaltending clinic, stopping 45 shots in earning a 4-1 win over New Jersey. He wasn't exactly eased into this game, having to face 22 Devils shots in the first period alone. Given Florida's early-season success, start Knight whenever he is given the nod, even if that doesn't seem often enough.

With the Aleksander Barkov injury, Anton Lundell is one player worth taking a flier on. Lundell did not record a point on Thursday, but he was on a scoring line with Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe. Don't expect Lundell to replicate Barkov's point-per-game-plus production, but the opportunity for offense is there for the rookie, even though he has just one point over his last six games.

Catching some of the Tampa/Philly game, I noticed that Mathieu Joseph scored a goal while on a line with Steven Stamkos and Alex Killorn. Doing some further digging on Joseph, I noticed that he also has goals in back-to-back games and points in four of his last five games. Tampa has back-to-back weekend games (Saturday vs. New Jersey, Sunday vs. Minnesota), so Joseph might be worth a stream with most other fantasy-relevant Lightning players already rostered.

In a losing cause, Claude Giroux snapped a four-game point drought by scoring two goals.

Morgan Rielly scored both Leafs' goals in their 2-1 win over the Rangers. Reilly now has five points, including three goals, over his last three games. He's also fired 11 shots over his past three games. If you thought he would relax after signing his long-term extension a few weeks ago, he hasn't shown it recently.

In his second NHL game, Scott Perunovich recorded his first NHL point (an assist) with a plus-2 and three shots. He was also used on St. Louis' second power-play unit. The 2020 Hobey Baker Award winner, Perunovich was already proving to be too much for the AHL in his first season there, scoring 20 points in just 12 games as a defenseman. He probably won't see first-unit power-play time with Torey Krug there, but he may still have a decent rookie campaign anyway. For more on Perunovich, see his Dobber Prospects profile.

Brandon Saad snapped a five-game point slump on Thursday, scoring two goals while taking six shots.

This tweet brings it in terms of both creativity and sage advice, but the problem is that it may have already expired. You could, however, apply this thinking to any slumping scoring star that you are considering buying low on. Hey, if we don't make you better at fantasy hockey here, at least we can try to make you better at sales, right?

To elaborate, if you have been waiting on Kirill Kaprizov, he absolutely went off on Thursday. Dolla Bill scored a goal and added three assists with a plus-4 in the Wild's 7-2 pounding of the Stars. It's not as though Kaprizov has been awful, but he'd reached three points in a game just once in his first 15 games. Playing on the Kaprizov line, Victor Rask and Mats Zuccarello also had three-point games and also with a plus-4.

That plus-4 wasn't the best for the Wild. Jared Spurgeon led the team with a plus-5, even though he didn't record a point. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

Before you drop Jakob Chychrun, you may want to take a peek at his Thursday statline: 1 G, 1 A, +2, 7 SOG. Of course, the most miraculous of those stats should be the plus-2, which is the first time in 17 games that he has been a plus player in a game! Of course, that brings his plus/minus up to a frigid minus-22 (still league-worst). I won't in any way suggest that this number will improve, so you'll simply have to find other ways to offset it. Yet after just a single point in his first 14 games, Chychrun has two goals and an assist over his last three games. Keep in mind that he also receives the icetime to accrue the counting stats. Chychrun was on the ice for a season-high 30:53 in a Thursday game that went to a shootout.

With two goals on Thursday, new Columbus captain Boone Jenner now has seven points in his last seven games and nine goals on the season. Key to his success is the fact that he is firing the puck at an increased rate (3.3 SOG/GP, over 1 SOG/GP higher than last season). More recently, Jenner has taken at least five shots in each of his last three games. Jenner is also averaging nearly 21 minutes per game, which places him just outside of the top 10 among all forwards in that category. Keep in mind that Jenner has proven to be way more valuable in multicategory leagues in the past than pure scoring leagues, as aside from this season he has not averaged 0.5 PTS/GP since the 2015-16 season.

Nicolas Hague is slowly making his way into fantasy relevance. With a goal on Thursday, Hague now has six points in his last 10 games. He's also starting to see more important minutes, as he is being paired with Alex Pietrangelo on the first even-strength unit while also playing second-unit minutes. Overall, he has averaged nearly a half point per game this season (eight points in 17 games).

Although I did not draft any Red Wings goalies this season, I was less shy about recommending them than others were. However, I might have to rethink that, as they have now allowed five goals in each of their three games this week. On Thursday, Thomas Greiss was pulled after two periods after he allowed four goals on 22 shots. A stop in Arizona on Saturday might help stop the bleeding, which is a start that I would think that Alex Nedeljkovic would receive (don't forget to check Goalie Post to confirm).  

The Wings not only lost 5-1 to Vegas, but they are also looking at a potential injury to Moritz Seider. The star rookie defenseman took a shot off his leg late in the third period and was seen limping to the bench. After the game, coach Jeff Blashill did not have an update. Hopefully this is nothing serious.

The season of Troy Terry continues on. With a goal on Thursday, his out-of-nowhere point streak now stands at 16 games. I had added him to one of my teams when his point streak was a mere eight games, and I had no idea that this streak would last at least another eight. Every season there is at least one player that breaks out from nowhere, and so far Terry has been that guy. His 12 goals ties him for second with a bunch of players, while his 22 points places him fourth in overall scoring. A 27.9 SH% suggests that his current pace isn't sustainable, but it looks like he is better than we thought.

If you were like me and plucked him up off the waiver wire, you could attempt to sell high on Terry and acquire a more established scorer in return. Recent trade activity on Yahoo shows Terry has fetched the likes of Patrick Kane, Mark Stone, and Johnny Gaudreau (among others) in one-for-one trades. The Ducks didn't look like they would provide a whole lot of offense before the season started, so I'm not sure that Terry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Adam Henrique will be able to keep up their early-season success (their eight-game win streak ended on Thursday at the hands of the Hurricanes). Those three have been the Ducks' top three scorers this season and have more recently formed their top line.
