Although Friday featured just four games, it featured a few debuts and returns of note.

Ville Husso's first game as a Red Wing couldn't have gone any better. Husso stopped all 29 shots he faced in the Wings' 3-0 win over Montreal. Here's one of those saves.

The Wings play again today (Saturday), so expect Alex Nedeljkovic to get the start in New Jersey in the second of back-to-backs. Based on both recency and contract, Husso should receive the bulk of the work in net going forward. If Husso was part of your Zero G plan, congratulations on the great start. He could turn out to be one of the better goalies in fantasy if Detroit is able to improve on last season.

Dipping deeper into the Zero G pool, Jake Allen hasn't been so bad either over his first two starts. Following a win against Toronto, Allen stopped 37 of 38 shots in the hard-luck loss. I wouldn't expect such smooth sailing from a Habs netminder going forward, but Allen has at least provided better-than-expected results in the early going.

Michael Rasmussen led the Wings with a goal and two assists. In fact, he demonstrated why he has some bangers league appeal with a plus-3, 2 PIM, 4 SOG, 4 HITS, and 2 BKS. Rasmussen hasn't generated a ton of interest in fantasy leagues so far (he's a 1 percenter in Yahoo leagues), but it's worth mentioning that he is now entering his fourth NHL season. Since he is 6-6, further development time might be needed for the 23-year-old former first-round pick.

Rasmussen might be playing on the tallest line in the league, which also features the 6-3 Oskar Sundqvist and the 6-6 – 6-8 (depending who you ask) Elmer Soderblom. A surprise to skip the AHL and immediately crack the Red Wings in his first season in North America, Soderblom scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game. He also saw second-unit power-play time and took five shots in just under 13 minutes of icetime. Even though he's an easy fellow to remember, Soderblom should probably be left for the deepest of leagues at the moment.

Despite the positive vibes from the Wings' victory, Jakub Vrana was held off the scoresheet and played just 12 minutes. That doesn't look great, but at least he's on the second line with David Perron and Andrew Copp.

Josh Anderson is making some noise again because he's on the Habs' top line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield and is on the first-unit power play. Although he was held without a point like the rest of his teammates on Friday, he scored the game-winner on Wednesday against the Leafs. Anderson is most ideal for bangers leagues than pure scoring leagues, if you're thinking about making the add. Yet he's a certified Band-Aid Boy that hasn't quite hit a 40-point pace the past two seasons in spite of some flashes of brilliance.

Although he hasn't recorded a point over his first two games, Brandon Hagel has been spotted on the Bolts' top line with Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point. Hagel has succeeded in the past with Patrick Kane, so his fantasy value is tied to having good linemates. To give you an idea, Hagel had 37 points in 55 games with the Blackhawks but then just seven points in 22 games last season after his trade to the Lightning. Then in the playoffs it was six points in 23 games, with almost none of those minutes coming with Kucherov, Point, or Steven Stamkos.

In his second game, Johnny Gaudreau scored his first goal as a Blue Jacket.

All but one of those points are with the Calgary Flames, but he's gotta start somewhere with the Jackets.

The behind-the-net backhand assist on the Gaudreau goal was from none other than Justin Danforth, who I first brought up yesterday and discussed on Twitter today. In spite of Brad Larsen's comments that Danforth's first-line spot is "in pencil," Danforth was handed 20 minutes of icetime and first-unit power-play duties on Friday. Not exactly what we'd expected when we forecasted the Jackets, but players come out of nowhere every season. That's part of the fun. Given Friday's encouraging boxscore, I'm a little more interested in Danforth than I was prior to this game. That being said, Danforth will undoubtedly be on a short leash if he can't take full advantage of this opportunity.

Can Connor Hellebuyck return to his form as one of the league's top goalies? If Friday's result is any indication, he could be a bounce-back candidate. Hellebuyck stopped 40 of 41 shots he faced in a 4-1 win over the Rangers. Hellebuyck wasn't terrible last season, but he wasn't far above average either and seemed overworked in playing 66 games – only Juuse Saros played more. David Rittich was Saros' backup last season in Nashville and is Hellebuyck's backup this season, so Hellebuyck should face a heavy workload again even if it's not ideal for him.

My value pick Mark Scheifele scored a pair of goals while taking seven shots. Scheifele's ADP on Yahoo was 133 (a more reasonable 78 on Fantrax), so I made a point to draft him on my Yahoo team just before pick 100. Why leave a point-per-game player after pick 100? Scheifele has reached a point per game over each of the last six seasons.

Ondrej Kase has the worst injury luck. The latest issue to sideline him is a possible concussion, which has forced him to return home early from the Hurricanes' western road trip. The Band-Aid Boy extraordinaire has never played 70 games in a season dating back to 2016-17, and he has played only 53 games total over the past two seasons. Hopefully he is alright and is able to recover quickly.

Brent Burns return to San Jose in only the second game of the season, receiving more than just a run-of-the-mill video tribute. In a 2-1 game, Burns was held without a point.

The Luke Kunin experiment on the first-unit power play has ended, as Kevin Labanc replaced him there on Friday. Obviously, this is an ideal spot for Labanc, who seems to have regressed after his 56-point season in 2018-19. Although you can take a flier on Labanc if you want, I think the Sharks might be trying several forwards there this season. After San Jose's three main scorers in Timo Meier, Tomas Hertl, and Logan Couture, there's quite a dropoff. I thought William Eklund might be able to grab that role, but the Sharks want him to spend some time in the AHL first.
