Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.

Kevin Shattenkirk – The Ducks defenseman was placed on Injured Reserve after he suffered a lower-body injury during Wednesday's game against the Wild. He didn't practice on Monday, so I don't expect he'll be available for Thursday's game against the Jets.

Nick SchmaltzShould return to the lineup on November 21st when the Coyotes take on the Predators. Schmaltz has been recovering from surgery to treat a rib injury, which he suffered in the season opener.

Jakob Chychrun – Is expected to make his season debut in Nashville on November 21st. He hasn't played yet because he's been recovering from offseason wrist surgery, as well as a procedure to remove a bone spur from his ankle.

Jack Quinn – The Sabres' rookie Is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, which likely occurred when he took a puck to the head during Saturday's game against the Bruins. Fortunately, the imaging results were positive and he won't necessarily be sidelined all week as the team originally anticipated.

Kyle Okposo – Buffalo's captain is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Jeremy Swayman – On Tuesday, the Bruins netminder practiced for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury on November 1st. He practiced again on Wednesday, and led the team stretch – something Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy each did right before they returned to the lineup. It sounds like Ullmark will start against the Flyers on Thursday, but there's a good chance Swayman will be available to play backup.

Teuvo TeravainenThe Hurricanes' winger is on Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury. According to coach Rod Brind'Amour, Teravainen is expected to be out "for a while". In his absence, it looks like Stean Noesen – who was already on the team's top power play – has been promoted to a top-six role.

Frederik AndersenThe Hurricanes netminder is on Injured Reserve (IR) with a lower-body injury that's described as more serious than a day-to-day issue, but not quite a week-to-week issue. Antti Raanta and Pyotr Kochetkov have performed well in Andersen's absence, with Kochetkov fresh off a 27-save shutout against Chicago. Although Andersen is now eligible to come off IR, there's no reason to rush him back into the lineup. He wasn't on the ice Wednesday, so I don't expect he'll be available against Colorado on Thursday.

Alex StalockThe Blackhawks' netminder continues to skate by himself but hasn't practiced with the team yet. Stalock entered concussion protocol after he was bowled over by Casey Cizikas last Tuesday against the Islanders. Recovering from a concussion is usually an unpredictable process that requires day-to-day monitoring, so there's no concrete timetable for his return.

Tyler JohnsonThe 32-year-old forward was a full participant in Tuesday's practice. Although it's an encouraging step forward, it sounds like coach Luke Richardson wants Johnson to practice a few times before returning to game action, so he's unlikely to play against St. Louis on Wednesday. Johnson is working his way back from an ankle sprain suffered on October 25th.

Samuel Girard – Has been skating recently but remains day-to-day with a lower-body injury. As I write this, his status for Thursday's clash with Carolina remains up in the air.

Jakub Voracek – The Blue Jackets' forward is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury. Columbus' last two games were played in Finland as part of the NHL's Global Series. Although Voracek took part in game one, he was held out of game two the next day with his status being day-to-day. It's concerning that he's now out 'indefinitely'.

Patrik Laine – Will be sidelined for three to four weeks while he recovers from a sprained ankle.  In Laine's absence, it looks like Emil Bemstrom will get a shot on the top line beside Boone Jenner and Johnny Gaudreau.

Elvis Merzlikins – Left Tuesday's game against the Flyers with what seemed to be a lower-body injury, as he couldn't put any weight on his left leg when he skated off the ice. We're still waiting to hear more information about the injury from the team.

Jake Bean – Left Tuesday's game against Philadelphia because of an upper-body injury, which likely occurred when he was checked into the boards during the second period. There haven't been any further updates from the team as I write this.

Zach Werenski – Will be sidelined for the rest of the regular season because of a separated shoulder and torn labrum. Werenski is Columbus' best defenseman, so this is a huge loss for the Blue Jackets. It's hard to say who'll see an increased opportunity in his absence because the team's blueline has been ravaged by injuries. If Jake Bean's injury isn't too serious, he may be able to benefit from an expanded role.

Kailer Yamamoto – It sounds like the Oilers forward is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. He wasn't on the ice for Tuesday's practice, so I don't expect he'll be available for Wednesday's clash with the Kings.

Evander KaneHad surgery to repair his wrist after it was cut by a skate blade during last Tuesday's game against the Lightning. The recovery timeline is set for three to four months, but fortunately, it sounds like he's going to be okay.

Mike MathesonOn October 13th, the Canadiens announced Matheson would be sidelined for eight weeks with an abdominal muscle strain. He had been practicing with the team recently but hadn't been taking contact. On Wednesday, he shed his no-contact jersey and was a full participant in practice, which suggests he'll be back in the lineup very soon.

Thomas Chabot – Was placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a concussion during Saturday's game against the Flyers. As a result, Chabot will be sidelined for at least a week, ineligible to play against the Sabres on Wednesday. Recovering from a concussion tends to be an unpredictable process, so there's no concrete timetable for his return. While Chabot's sidelined, Jake Sanderson is likely to see an increased role.

Artem ZubWas on the ice in a regular jersey during Wednesday's morning skate. It sounds like he's an option against the Sabres on Wednesday night, and a decision on his status will be made closer to puck drop.

Cam AtkinsonThe Flyers' forward recently began skating again, but he hasn't been taking contact. Although this is an encouraging step forward, there's still no timetable for his return. Atkinson hasn't played yet this season, dealing with a mysterious upper-body injury that was initially labelled a day-to-day issue.

Jamie OleksiakThe 29-year-old defenseman is on Injured Reserve with a lower-body injury that's expected to keep him out for "a bit".

Philipp GrubauerHas been on the ice, getting a lot of reps done recently. He's been sidelined with a lower-body injury since October 21st. Although Grubauer's on long-term injured reserve (LTIR), he's already missed 10 games and 24 days of action, so he can be activated whenever he's feeling well enough to play.

Erik CernakThe Lightning defenseman is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. He could be back against the Flames on Thursday, but if he isn't, there's a good chance he makes his return against Nashville on Saturday.

Ilya Samsonov – On Monday, Samsonov practiced with the team for the first time since suffering a knee injury on November 5th. With Matt Murray recently returning from injury, there's less urgency for Samsonov to get back in the lineup right away. With that being said, the fact that he's practicing already suggests he'll be back relatively soon.

Jake MuzzinThe Leafs defenseman is out indefinitely with a cervical spine injury and will be re-evaluated in late February.

Vasily PodkolzinMissed Tuesday's game against the Sabres due to a facial injury. He suffered the injury in a fight with A.J. Greer during Sunday's game against the Bruins.

T.J. OshieHas been skating on his own and making progress, but remains out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. He isn't on the team's current road trip, so he won't be in the lineup against the Blues on Thursday.

Dmitry OrlovIt seems like Orlov has been participating in lighter skates recently, but not full-intensity practices. He was on the ice for Saturday's optional practice (that featured a small group of players), as well as Sunday's morning skate, but not Monday's team practice. Although he's with the team in St. Louis, his status for Thursday's battle with the Blues remains up in the air as I write this. He's been sidelined with a lower-body injury since November 7th.

Nikolaj EhlersOn Wednesday, the Jets forward skated on his own – for the first time in almost a month. He didn't stay on the ice for the team's practice, but that'll be the next major checkpoint before we start anticipating a return. Ehlers has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since October 17th.
