Geek of The Week: Under-The-Radar Streaming Options, Off-Nights are Key

Hello and welcome back to Geek of the Week! If you have a fantasy matchup next week, congratulations on making the finals! If not, maybe there's some consolation matchups that will give you some bragging rights or better draft positions next year. Either way, I'm going to highlight some streaming options for multicategory leagues. A common theme is taking advantage of off-night this coming week. The players mentioned will all be under 5% owned and will likely be available in your leagues.

The stats provided do not include this Sunday's games.

Keegan Kolesar 2% Rostered

Second in the league in hits all season, with 255, Kolesar is a great streaming option for hits this upcoming week. Vegas plays four games from Monday to Sunday, all on off-nights. If you have a player that you'll be benching on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday, it may be worth it to grab Kolesar instead for the extra games played. Kolesar has averaged four hits per game over the past month. I would not expect much offense from the fourth-liner, but expect 12-20 hits over the four-game span. Maybe he can even pass Cal Clutterbuck for fourth in the league in hits this week.

Anthony Mantha – 5% Rostered

We are attacking Vegas' beautiful schedule again this time. Again, if you have someone on your bench on the heavy nights, you can get 3-4 extra games played by dropping that player for a Golden Knight. Mantha has been on fire the past two weeks, averaging over a point per game while providing some hits (1.83 per game) as well. With Hertl coming back, it is hard to know if Mantha's ice-time will drop, but in the last five games, he leads Vegas in individual High Danger Scoring Chances For (iHDSCF)/60 minutes at even strength. He's getting to the dangerous areas and getting his chances to score. He should still get meaningful minutes this upcoming week and hold onto his PP2 role. If he can snag you three points in his four off-night games, that will be much better than a player sitting on your bench.

Jack McBain – 3% Rostered

As with the off-night theme, the Coyotes play Tuesday, then on three off-nights (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday). McBain is another option to fill in for the hits category. He has averaged 4.67 per game the past two weeks. He, unlike Kolesar is actually playing with some offensive talent in Josh Doan and Matias Maccelli. Doan has been on fire to start his rookie campaign with three goals and three assists in his first five games. McBain can fill your hits category and possibly find himself in on some goals to pick up a few points as well. Kolesar has one extra off-night, but McBain has more offensive upside. Another option for strictly hits from the Coyotes is Liam O'Brien (3% rostered), also averaging 4.67 per game the past two weeks.

Shane Wright – 2% Rostered

This goes against my theme of off-nights, but Wright has made a splash since his recent call up to the big leagues. Seattle also plays six games over the remainder of the NHL schedule. In the three games since he was called up from the minors, Wright has picked up three goals, one assist, and nine shots on goal. Take these stats with a grain of salt as they have all come against Anaheim and San Jose, but looking at Seattle's upcoming schedule, there are some easy matchups ahead, including the Coyotes, the Sharks, and the Blues.

Wright has been given plenty of minutes, playing in the top six and even has carved out a role on the power play. He leads the Kraken in Shots per 60 and individual Scoring Chances For (iSCF) per 60 in this time, while being 2nd on the team in iHDSF/60. Wright may be here to stay for the Kraken's remaining six games. Management likely wants to see all he can do with the great opportunity. Wright can provide some great offense over the remainder of the season, possibly a point-per-game. That would be very rare from someone currently 2% owned.

Good luck to everyone! Hope you enjoyed! See you next week.
