Injury Ward: Stolarz; Dahlin; Duclair; Harley; Barkov & More

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening. Happy Holidays, and welcome to the Injury Ward. My name is Logan Clarkson and every Wednesday I will be chauffeuring you through injury news and updates from around the NHL. I'll do my best to offer useful analysis and opinion as it relates to fantasy throughout. As always I’d like to thank every single one of you for reading. Now, on to the bad (and some good) news.

Anthony Stolarz / TOR – Stolarz is set to be out four-to-six weeks after having surgery in New York in order to remove a loose body from his knee. That ain't great. Goalies are dropping like flies right now. Anthony left the game last Thursday against Anaheim and it has been reported that there is no structural damage to the knee so that is great news. Stolarz has been at or near the top of the league in all useful goalie stats pretty much all season. Joseph Woll will get the bulk of starts in his absence, backed up by Dennis Hildeby.

Rasmus Dahlin / BUF – Dahlin has been out with back spasms but he is currently scheduled to be a full participant in practice tomorrow. If all is well he will be cleared to play and will mount a comeback Friday against Toronto at home.

Trevor Zegras / ANA – Zegras ended up having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right leg after his awkward injury last week. Expect him to be out for approximately six weeks.

Anthony Duclair / NYI – With the recent return of Matt Barzal, Duclair is coming back to a mostly full lineup. Anthony was cleared medically to return to the lineup but was ultimately still held out of the starting lineup on Tuesday. Expect him back on the roster very soon if not for the Islanders next game against Toronto on Saturday night hockey.

Seth Jones / CHI – Jones is almost ready to return from his long term foot injury. He is now listed as day-to-day but has been ruled out for the Blackhawks clash on Wednesday against Washington.

Thomas Harley / DAL – Harley was a game time decision Monday due to another illness. Day-to-day, expect Thomas back in the lineup some time this week.

Cam Talbot / DET – Talbot will not be ready for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia. He recently re-aggravated an injury in practice that was almost healed. The Red Wings will hope to get him back in action for one of their back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.

Viktor Arvidsson / EDM – Arvidsson has been close to returning for what seems like two months, but he has been listed as such again as of yesterday. Arvidsson will likely return to top six minutes along with second power play time.

Aleksander Barkov / FLA – Barkov is still day-to-day with an illness after missing Florida's previous two games against Calgary and Edmonton. The Alberta flu! Kidding, there is something nasty going around the league right now rendering quite a few players unable to play and for more than one game in most cases. Barkov has been having a superstar season when not out due to injury or illness. Buy low!

Drew Doughty / LAK – Doughty is on track to be returning early January, which is on schedule for his initial diagnosis. It's uncertain what sort of minutes he is going to return to with Brandt Clarke taking over top powerplay duties, but Clarke hasn't exactly run away with the job as of late. Clarke has only one point in his last seven games and at this junction in the season he is more likely to see 14 minutes a night than the 20 he was frequently seeing in the earlier on. Not a great sign.

Kevin Lankinen / VAN – Lankinen has been out of the lineup for the last two games due to an illness. Illness seems to be sweeping the league right now but Lankinen should be good to return for one of Vancouver's back to back games on Wednesday and Thursday. My bet would be on Thursday to get him an extra day of rest.

Filip Gustavsson / MIN – Gustavsson will miss Wednesday's clash with Florida due to a lower body injury. The injury is still believed by coach John Hynes to be minor and should have Gustavsson returning for one of their upcoming games this week.

Artemi Panarin / NYR – Panarin is day-to-day after participating in Rangers practice Tuesday, albeit sitting out his reps on the power play and later on in the day, sitting out for their embarrassing 2-0 loss to the forever sputtering Nashville Predators. Panarin should return in the next few days from his upper-body-injury.

Anton Forsberg / OTT – Forsberg won't travel with the team on their upcoming road trip due to an undisclosed injury. Llinus Ullmark has been red hot lately with two shutouts in as many weeks and is ready to run with the majority of starts.

Nikolaj Ehlers / WPG – Ehlers was a full participant in Tuesday's practice with the Jets. Watch for his possible return tonight in their second half of a back-to-back in Anaheim.
