2024-12-25
Merry Christmas everyone! Enjoy your time with your family, and for today ā try to limit checking over your fantasy squads to no more than 15 times if possible.
*
I'm just happy to be around for another Christmas. I always think about that. Daily, I think about it. Take it from me ā savor every moment.
As I do every year (and hopefully for years to come), I have some interesting content for you to read while you wait for your family to get ready and finally make their way to the door and get their asses into the car! No hockey action to cover, so I'll throw up some stats of interest.

There's a new Dobber Darling in town. The fastest rising prospect on my Prospect Rankingsā¦
*
Kyle Connor hit the 20-goal mark for the eighth consecutive season. Among US-born players, that puts him in a tie for fifth all time.
*
The longest active point streaks in the NHL right now, as found here:
Brad Marchand 10 games
Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid, Mikko Rantanen 9 games
William Nylander, Jonathan Marchessault 7 games
Kirill Marchenko, Zach Hyman, Mitch Marner 6 games
*
For 36-year-old Marchand, he becomes the 10th player 36 or older to enjoy a 10-game points streak since 2006-07.
Speaking of Hyman, he has seven goals in those six games. This is why he should have been put on Team Canada. His 54 goals last season were not an accident ā his slow start this year was. He hit lots of posts, had some bad luck, and now it's correcting. Team Canada counted him out too fast.
Funny enough, Team Canada put a lot of stock in a small sample size when it came to Hymanā¦ but didn't put any stock at all in a smaller sample size when it came to Logan Thompson. Pick a lane!
*
Notables with the longest active pointLESS slumps:
Ryan Hartman ā 16 games
Matias Maccelli ā 9 games
Rasmus Andersson, Vladimir Tarasenko ā 8 games
Matvei Michkov, Mika Zibanejad, Mason Marchment ā 6 games
*
Quinn Hughes has 324 assists in his career in 399 games. Only two defensemen in NHL history have more assists prior to 400 games: Bobby Orr had 358 and Paul Coffey had 326.
*
Six skaters average more than 5.0 points per game in the Dobbernomics game.
Alex Ovechkin 5.9
Nikita Kucherov 5.7
Leon Draisaitl, Kirill Kaprizov, Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon 5.4
*
Top 10 face-off men, with minimum 100 draws taken:
- Derek Ryan 62.3% on 132 draws
- Claude Giroux 61.8% on 251 draws
- Aleksander Barkov 61.7% on 234 draws
- Vincent Trocheck 61.3% on 393 draws
- Nico Sturm 60.6% on 103 draws
- J-G Pageau 59.9% on 218 draws

Some interesting Home vs. Away production discrepancies:
Tim Stutzle 25 points in 17 games at home, 14 points in 17 games on the road
Zach Werenski 25 points in 17 games at home, 10 in 18 on the road
Filip Forsberg 23 points in 18 games at home, six in 17 on the road (!)
Sean Monahan 22 in 17 at home, nine in 18 on the road
Mark Stone has 21 points in 12 home games, seven in eight on the road.
Going the other wayā¦
Nikita Kucherov leads the NHL in road points with 34 in 16 games. He has just 16 in 14 home games. Half his road production.
Mikael Granlund has 24 points in 21 road games, and nine in 14 home games
Dylan Guenther has 22 in 19 on the road, but just 10 in 15 at home
Dylan Holloway has 18 in 21 on the road, and just four in 15 at home (!)
Jakob Chychrun has 16 in 16 away games ā only five in 13 at home
