DFS Thursday: Ottawa’s Solid Home Matchup; Carolina’s Secondary Scoring; Seattle’s Top Line Value

Good dayto all! Week recap…I loved the Monday five-game slate so much so that I played three lineups instead ofmy usually one.Tuesday also was a favorite andyesterday became one thanks in part to my friends the Winnipeg top line and Jake Oettinger. This slate today though, I'm running into some roadblocks, but that doesn't mean that there's not a couple spots that could get us into the money.

Before we dive in, quick plug! We've been putting up a Thursday video hit on these DFS articles so instead of reading this and wondering what I look like breaking down the slate, you can watch me break it down instead! That sounded creepy…but really, we've been upping our social presence this season and I'll have a quick weekly DFS report on Thursdays and possible a Tuesday here or there. There's also plenty of our talented creators on each platform along with helpful fantasy insights and funny reels, like the one the other day about picking up Brandon Bussi. Ottawa Senators

The Senators might be my favorite spot on the board and its part matchup and part of what I can do with their lineup. TheRangers penalty kill has struggled of late and it started to show itself in their game a couple weeks back against Vegas where theGoldenKnights scored twice on the power play. I also don't mind this matchup at even strength, as the Rangers are missing Adam Fox and the rest of the defensive pairings without him have not had the run of play more times than not this season. Ottawa also provides your build with some flexibility as I would say the top two lines are in play tonight, and you can take pieces from their third line as a filler stack should your build need it. This also has nothing to do with DFS but the person that I'm playing in my main fantasy league has two Senators on their roster…guaranteed they go off. It's how the universe works.

Carolina Hurricanes

Sometimes on slates where I don't have a clear choice on where I want to go with my build, I just sort of stack lines that I like and build from there and if that's the case then I'm going to go to a line that I've probably played the most this season and that's the Carolina second line. I don't have Spotify, but I do have Apple Music, and I just got my wrapped sent to me. I feel like DraftKings should do the same thing at seasons end and say what line you played the most, what team you went against, best nights of the season, etc. Get on this DK! If this was an actual thing that they did, there's a good chance that come mid-April my most played line could be Nikolaj Ehlers ($5,800) – Logan Stankoven ($4,700) – Jackson Blake ($4,100) …followed closely by Tampa's top line, but hey, we're here to talk about Carolina. At one point I might have been somewhat hesitant to go up against Toronto but this season it's sort of Joseph Woll in net that would give me pause but I'm willing to waive that to go out and roster something from Carolina. The 'Canes second line is also fully correlated on their second power play unit and while typically it's the top units we target, Carolina splits the time between each, as the second grouping has gotten around 6:30 of power play time in their last three games. For me in my single entry, this is a spot that I'm targeting.

Seattle Kraken

Skepticism. Doubt. Suspicion. These are some words that come to my mind whenever Seattle is on the slate but tonight, and I can't believe I'm saying this, let's replace those words with ones like…my mind is in a fog…aspiration maybe? Look, I never play the Kraken due to inconsistent lines, ice time, and you hardly ever get a fully correlated trio. There was a small window last season where I remember playing them on the road in Boston but outside of that not much is coming to memory…this could change tonight. Seattle's top line of Jared McCann ($5,600) – Matty Beniers ($4,300) – Jordan Eberele ($4,500) are fully correlated tonight on the top line and look, I never completely X out a correlated top group, especially one that could see .840% goaltending tonight against the Oilers. While I do wish that this was a home matchup for Seattle, I may be rolling the dice on them going up against Edmonton goaltending. Now, if we come to find that this trio is broken up then all bets are off for me rostering them, but in the event, they stick together, then I have interest. This may be one of the few times we target Seattle on the season, and in single-entry they could be outside looking in, but in multiple there's a case to be made for a Seattle top line stack.

Defensemen

If you have $8,300 – $8,500 lying around then Cale Makar or Zach Werenski are both excellent plays tonight and most nights. I do have interest in Roman Josi at $6,200–it's been a long time since I've played him in a stack, and I'm saying that as someone who would go out of my way to roster him back in 2022 – 2023 replacing Mark Giordano as someone I tried to fit into my lineups in 2019. Matthew Schaefer and Morgan Rielly are good plays in my book right next to each other at $5,200 and $5,100, and I don't mind MacKenzie Weegar slightly below them at $4,700. Ivan Provorov is fine at $3,900 and if you need someone on the cheap, then Vladislav Gavrikov makes some sense tonight at $3,300.

Goalies

My spend-up option tonight is probably going up to Jesper Wallstedt under $8K, as he has been unbelievable for about the past month of the season. I don't even mind the other side of that matchup and could see myself getting to either Calgary goaltender at $7,600. Jeremy Swayman or Igor Shesterkin are fine with me at $7,500 and completely random but for some reason I can't think of Shesterkin's name without hearing Sam Rosen pronouncing it. Now you're hearing it too! If you need a lower priced goaltender, then Jospeh Woll makes some sense if you're not playing the Hurricanes and would about be the lowest I would spend tonight in net.

Good luck tonight everybody!
