Now that the All-Star game is behind us, we are about to begin our stretch run. January was an interesting month in the Dobber Experts pool. While The Comish is still out front by 16.5 points, at one point the lead had shrunk to only five points. Angus has reduced his projected games played at centre from plus-23 to only plus-6. In doing so, he has allowed Notch to move up and compete for second place. The two have been swapping positions on almost a daily basis.
Joe Sakic skated in practice today. As did Ryan Smyth and Paul Stastny. Stastny is still questionable for tomorrow, whereas Smyth should return by Sunday. Sakic is still a ways away - March at least. The Avs will welcome back leading scorer Paul Stastny on Tuesday after the 22-year-old missed the last 10 contests recovering from an appendectomy. The mere fact that he still leads the team in scoring by a wide margin despite missing 20 percent of the season so far exemplifies his importance. Colorado will also welcome back Ryan Smyth to practice Monday.
