Looking Ahead to Next Season

If you are stuck in the middle of the pack in your fantasy pool, this is the article for you.  The leaders have pulled away and this year is over in terms of you winning, so the only logical step is to look ahead to next season.  You may begin to ask yourself a bunch of questions.  Who are some guys to keep an eye on?  Who are some players to avoid after a big year?  Why didn’t I buy Dobber’s Guide like the guy in first place did? 

 

 

Wheeling and Dealing in the West

The trade deadline is upon us, and I expect a flurry of activity Tuesday morning.  While the prices so far have been extremely high, most of the eight playoff teams in the West still need to do some tinkering and upgrading before having a playoff line-up ready.  There still remain a few big names out there (Smyth, Souray, Guerin, Bertuzzi) that may be moved by Tuesday’s deadline.  I also have a gut feeling we are going to see a blockbuster deal involving non-UFA assets (some names like Zherdev, Horton, that kind of player).  Here is a breakdown for the current needs for the eight playoff teams in the Western Conference:

The Sharks have been struggling badly the past 10 games and might be forced to make a move if nothing changes. They are losing ground to the Ducks as well as numerous other teams in the West. Rumour has it that they are looking at acquiring some veteran help, as they might worry about entering the postseason one of the youngest teams in the NHL.
