Thoughts on Simon Despres, Finnish star Joonas Donskoi, the Worlds and more ... *** In Canada, we love our Saturday hockey. Sunday night hockey? Bonus. Afternoon hockey? Pfffft. The dinosaurs at NBC are swinging too big a stick. Sportsnet is paying the NHL $433.3 million for rights. NBC is paying the NHL $200 million per season. [...]

Thoughts on Carey Price, AHL realignment, one of my keeper league teams and more ... *** Ryan Callahan underwent an emergency appendectomy yesterday and is out indefinitely. Historically speaking, this could mean anywhere from three days (ala Jonathan Ericsson from a few years ago) to five games or more. We won't know until he returns. [...]

Thoughts on Rask/Subban; the Devils; and of course the Flames, Ducks, Rangers, Caps and more ... *** Rangers pushed things to a Game 7 after a nail-biter last night. I won't bore you with a rehash of the game, I'll leave that to other sites and I'm sure you saw it anyway. But Girardi, Klein [...]

Do we finally have a suitable CapGeek replacement? Thoughts on Goligoski, Despres and more ... *** If you were to rate Chicago's game throughout the year on a scale of one to 100, there would be some weeks and some games where maybe you'd give them an 85. Stamkos breaks free; Flames turn to The Wolf; plus thoughts on Kuznetsov and more ... *** Steven Stamkos now has a monkey-less back. He scored his first goal of the playoffs and as soon as he did that you just knew that he found his zone. The Habs could be in trouble here, and not [...]

Isles and Penguins injury notes; Kronwall suspended; Thoughts on the Blues and more ... *** Kronwall is out for tonight's Game 7. Just when you thought the NHL wouldn't have the cojones - they bring it. I'm shocked, to be honest. If Kucherov was injured, then sure, the NHL has a history of punishing for [...]

Thoughts on Hitchcock, Pageau, Price, Penguin injuries and more ... *** They're dropping like flies now, eh? But I'm happy to see that I'm six-and-oh with my calls so far. Wild, Blackhawks, Ducks, Flames, Rangers, Canadiens move on. And as I suspected, the Caps - Isles series is too close to call. But again, as [...]

Playoff hockey - thoughts on Mrazek, Darling, Beaulieu, Ehlers, Wilson and more ... *** Tampa Bay can't score? Who saw that coming? The most potent offense in the league boasts a superstar on one line, the best trio of youngsters in the league on another line, and solid potential 55-point guys (at least) on a [...]
