Super Dobber: Making the World Safe for Weak Poolies
This year, in NHL camps there are more Russians than usual - a total of 48 Russian players are training with the different NHL franchises. So far there have been several impressive showings.
The dynamic of Colorado's two-day training camp had a bigger impact on the goalies than any other position. Since timing and confidence is everything for a goaltender to start the new season, to be lacking in either of those areas will certainly lend a hand to struggling over the weekend. Even more important, however, is the negative effect of almost no one-on-one time with their new goalie coach, Kirk McLean.
Why these young centermen will clear 60 points this campaign
In with the old and out with the new. You see it every season. A young forward joins the ranks of 60-point players, replacing an older forward who habitually got there throughout his career, but now falls short. Don’t underestimate these players at the draft table, as they are part of the next wave.
I am currently in five fantasy hockey leagues, and yesterday kicked off five drafts in 12 days for me . The Ultimate Fantasy Pool is a head-to-head league, and all of the league’s members are readers of DobberHockey (a few of them are regular contributors on the hockey forum as well). The team (The Crosby Show), was audited by the HockeyPoolGeek crew back in August (you can read the in-depth analysis here).
I went in to the draft with a few goals, and in the end I think I accomplished what I set out to do.
Fantasy Impact: The Hurricanes have signed winger Patrick O’Sullivan to a one-year, two-way contract. He was a member of the organization for about five minutes during the 2008 trade deadline. Carolina moved Justin Williams to Los Angeles for him, but then he was quickly flipped to the Oilers for Erik Cole.
