NHL Betting Picks: Saturday Analysis and Thursday “Puck Picks”
Welcome to the home of DobberHockey’s NHL Picks, your expert guide to navigating the busiest nights in the hockey calendar. This category features our primary weekend deep-dive, Saturday’s NHL Picks, alongside our midweek specialized analysis, Puck Picks, published every Thursday. Our goal is to provide data-backed insights to help you identify value in the betting markets and gain an edge in your fantasy matchups.

Weekly Schedule and Strategy
We synchronize our analysis with the NHL’s heaviest game nights to ensure you have the most relevant data when it matters most:

Saturday’s NHL Picks: A comprehensive breakdown of the full Saturday slate, focusing on moneyline value, over/under trends, and high-probability outcomes. Penned by Flip Livingstone.

Thursday’s “Puck Picks”: Our midweek strategic report designed to uncover edges in the Thursday night schedule, often the second-busiest night of the week. Penned by Ryan Brudner.

Advanced Metric Integration: Every pick is supported by Frozen Tools data, including goaltender streaks, team puck possession metrics (Corsi/Fenwick), and special teams’ mismatches.

Situational Analysis: We account for travel schedules, back-to-back starts, and confirmed starting goalies to provide a holistic view of every game.

Expert Guidance for Every Bettor
Whether you are looking for a parlay anchor, a player prop advantage, or simply want to know which favorites are on “upset alert,” our picks combine decades of hockey expertise with modern analytical modeling. By following the “Puck Picks” and Saturday reports, you can make informed decisions based on logic and data rather than gut feeling.

In the weekly piece “Saturday’s NHL Picks,” Flip Livingstone breaks down at least three of Saturday’s NHL games where he will either pick a winner or make an over/under bet on total goals.

In the weekday article “Puck Picks”, Ryan Brudner covers what you need to know about NHL betting.

So much for making up ground last week!  Despite my best efforts, and a few games not ending soon enough and one game in particular ending a couple minutes early, I find myself licking my paws going 6-7 last week, while Thunder victorious again picked eight winners, including her first tie of the year between the Caps and Canes.  Seriously, Maggie the monkey, you’d better watchout. Thunder’s .553 winning percentage would have her ranked seventh place in the Western Conference right now ahead of the Edmonton Oilers, and just behind Columbus.  My winning percentage, well, let’s not go there right now… light schedule for a Saturday night with only eight matchups so let’s get to it:

Thunder

Last week got off to an atrocious start as I found myself 0-3 heading into the evening action while my 4 legged counterpart was 3-0. A strong showing in the later games allowed me to escape at 5-5 (14-20 on the year), still not enough to catch Thunder who went 6-4 and is 18-16 on the year. Since I lost last week, my wife, of course taking the dog’s side, wanted me to share this endearing photo with you all of the “best” team in the league. 13 big ones on the schedule so let’s get things rolling:

Last week signified one small step for mankind as Thunder seemed to come back down to earth winning only three of 11 matchups. Yes, I realize that I only picked four correctly, however at this stage in the game I’ll take any small victory I can get to get the ball rolling. Thunder is still ahead with a 12-12 record through two weeks. I have a feeling we’ll be moving our clocks one hour ahead this Saturday night... YES! I’ve already got one right this week. Plenty of games, so here we go:

Wow, just look at that cocky grin on my dog. She’s clearly egging me on and rightfully so after wiping the floor with me last week picking nine winners out of 13 matchups to my lowly five. Perhaps those few errand passes she got hit with as a puppy running around on the ice while we played shinny have instilled her with a superior hockey intellect? Nah, who am I kidding, she’s a mutt from the humane society and last week was just beginner’s luck. Plenty of games on the schedule so let’s get things started!

Filling in for Dale this week, I’ve enlisted the help of a four legged friend.  This is Thunder, a 5 year old Shepherd-Collie cross that will finally help us answer the question:  Are four legs better than two?? When it comes to making hockey picks anyways…. We have a busy schedule for Hockey Day in Canada, so let’s get started.

It’s been a tough ride since the All-Star break.  My whole family has been on the IR.  First it was the cough, runny nose, sore throat (inner body injury?) and then last night it was a cross between Linda Blair in The Exorcist and the pie-eating story in Stand By Me.  It was not good!  But as I've said before - if I'm feeling crappy, my picks are at their best...

Digital Monkey's

It’s time to get on a roll and shake this deep freeze.  I don’t know about you but I’ve had just about enough talk about wind chill factors and exposure warnings and temperatures falling below Rod Brind-Amour’s +/- rating.   Get some money down on a few games this week and spend your winnings on a car starter.  That’s my plan!
