The Wild West

Dallas had a good season after missing the playoffs in 2020-21, by winning 46 games in 2021-22 and finishing with 98 points. They lost in the first round to the Calgary Flames in a hard-fought seven games, with the deciding game going to overtime. They will be challenged to repeat that next season as they [...]

Off the ice, this team has done far more wrong than right over the past 15 years which has been exacerbated over this past year by the management and ownership’s general disdain to deal with the issues. On the ice, the team went out and paid a fortune for Seth Jones at a puzzling time [...]

Perhaps the biggest off-season news for the Coyotes is that they are moving their home arena (for the next two seasons at least) to the rink at Arizona State University which has a capacity of 5,000. This shouldn’t have much effect on how the team plays, but it will limit the players that are willing [...]

During the playoffs and off-season, I plan to focus on each team in the West and look at their current roster, prospects, cap space, draft picks and impending free agents. I intend to dig a little deeper into the organization to see if the team is on the rise, fall or treading water heading into [...]

The playoffs start this week, so it is time to appoint an MVP from each team in the West. Good luck to everyone for their playoff pools! Anaheim - Troy Terry 75-37-30-67 The season that Terry had was a tremendous boost to this roster as the Ducks had Trevor Zegras (75-23-38-61) and Jamie Drysdale (81-4-28-32) [...]

With just a handful of games remaining in the regular season, I thought it was time to choose the most disappointing player from each team in the West. Last season I had Matt Duchene, Robert Thomas, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Nate Schmidt, Clayton Keller, Nazem Kadri and Dylan Strome listed. Duchene, Thomas and Kadri are all having [...]

I’m going to look at some players in the West that have seen elevated roles in recent weeks or have been added to the lineups and been allowed to shine with less than eight games to play in the regular season. Some of these players have shown well, while others have struggled. Michael Amadio - [...]

We have all seen power rankings for teams that put teams in the order that they should be outside of actual points in the standings. I have my ratings for players that I’ve developed over the past few years, which give a player a game rating out of 10 based on a variety of stats [...]

It has been two weeks since the trade deadline in the NHL and that is enough time to see how and where new players have been allocated on their new teams and how new teams have filled the gaps with players sent out. Any stats that are presented below are from Dobber’s Frozen Tools and [...]

This week we are going to look at each team in the West and compare hits, blocked shots, giveaways and takeaways as a whole and then see who leads the team in all those categories from the back end. I’ll try to find some potential 100 hits/100 blocked shots players that can be very valuable [...]
