The Wild West – Bubble Keeper Week – Salary Cap Pool

By Grant Campbell|2025-08-11T08:55:18-04:00August 11th, 2025|The Wild West|

Over the last few seasons, during bubble week, I have focused on the format I know and that is a 25-team salary cap ($95.5 million) keeper pool with 27 players on each roster (20 active and seven in reserve, but all salaries count). As it is the off-season, we allow each team to carry 28 [...]

By Grant Campbell|2025-08-04T10:16:45-04:00August 4th, 2025|The Wild West|

Every team in the NHL has a few players whom they drafted, signed or traded for, only to lose them to another team before the player broke out. For today’s article, I’m going to look and see if there are players from each Western Team that each club would love to have back on their [...]

The Wild West – 2025-26 Goalie Outlook

By Grant Campbell|2025-07-28T08:06:05-04:00July 28th, 2025|The Wild West|

We will examine each team in the West to determine who the starting goalies should be or could be, as well as those competing for a backup role. Some teams are set with a 70/30 split, like Winnipeg, while others have fairly wide-open battles for each spot going into 2025-26. Dobber’s 20th Annual 2025-26 Fantasy [...]

The Wild West – 20-Goal Scorers per Western Team

By Grant Campbell|2025-07-21T07:48:44-04:00July 21st, 2025|The Wild West|

This week, we will examine each team in the West to assess the overall quality of their offensive production. Teams that have five or six players who score 20 goals or more would be considered deep, in my opinion. Teams that rely on two or three players run the risk of having their offense dry [...]

The Wild West – First Round Hits and Misses

By Grant Campbell|2025-06-30T11:02:44-04:00June 30th, 2025|The Wild West|

With the 2025 entry draft taking place this past Friday and Saturday, I thought we could look back at how Western Teams have fared from 2009 through 2024. I chose 2009 as the cutoff, as there are still quite a few players from that draft year playing significant roles on teams today. We are going [...]

The Wild West – Top Unrestricted Free Agents

By Grant Campbell|2025-06-23T07:10:44-04:00June 23rd, 2025|The Wild West|

We reviewed the top free agents available at a similar time last year, as listed here and here. I broke them down by forwards and defenders, by the type of contract each player might receive and the value each player had. As is the case with most free agents signed on July 1st, teams overpaid. The Wild West – Fourth Quarter Takeaways by Team

By Grant Campbell|2025-06-09T11:24:06-04:00June 9th, 2025|The Wild West|

This week, we will examine each team in the Western Conference and review some interesting (to me) statistical lines from the last 30 or so games of the regular season. Some of these may carry forward into 2025-26, or not. Anaheim Ducks Mason McTavish (F) - In his last 31 games, he had 10 goals [...]
