The top 100 goalies to own in fantasy hockey keeper leagues, May edition…

These rankings are based on keeper leagues, but how much they can help you this year plays a big part – more so than with skaters. This is because the goaltending position fluctuates so much. One day you're a starter, the next day a rookie stud steals your job, the day after that the hotshot rookie gets injured and the job is yours again. Injury proneness and how much a goalie has to share the net also plays a significant role.

Because of how the position fluctuates, it's best to compare goalies within their tier. One Tier 1 goalie is as good as another (unless the name is Price or Holtby).

Big jump from Murray. Good goalie but something needs to change for him to get the starts to justify that ranking. I’d see him more in the 25-30 range just ahead of Hellebucyk, Gibson, Vas

Gibson at 30 seems like someone forgot about him when setting the earlier part of the list. Behind Halak, Niemi, Anderson….I don’t see it.

  That’s the one everyone keeps pointing out. As they have been for two or three years now…
  Different leagues have different rules. In a points system, for example, here are my four goalies and how they did:
  Anderson: 68.0
  Elliott: 58.3
  Talbot: 44.8
  Halak: 39.2
  
  Gibson had 44.9. Wouldn’t have even made my pro team. I have no interest in goalies who share the net. If Andersen gets traded, Gibson moves into the Top 10 easily. But until then, I have little interest in Gibson. Not only does he share the net, but he’s very injury prone. He’s also not as talented as Andersen. Just a million reasons why you shouldn’t trip over yourself to acquire Gibson…unless Andersen is traded.
