The Top 200 Prospect Forwards to own in fantasy hockey, May edition. Aho, Vrana, Prince move up, Caggiula debuts…

Here are this month's top prospects to own in a points-only keeper league. Taking into account the organization depth chart, wait time, upside and NHL certainty. "Type" is measured by offensive/offense-small/power forward/two-way. Because every player in the Top 7 from last month was graduated this month, Toronto's William Nylander was able to take over top spot for the first time. Graduated players (from last month – other players such as Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid were graduated in February and January respectively) are listed at the bottom.

Sebastian Collberg has scored 7 goals in 87 career AHL games. If a non prospect like Collberg is #104, then a riser with in the Isles’ organization like Anthony Beauvillier ought to be in the top 20!

    • Dobber Sports 2016-05-11 at 17:20

It’s hard to track 700 prospects, man. But writing the prospects report gives me updates on everyone – so far I’ve read/edited/wrote reports on about 250 prospects. Collberg was not one of them (obviously).
At a quick glance however, the two prospects are close. AB is better – way more potential, more hype. But he’s at least four years away. Look at Dal Colle, Strome, etc. Players in this organization take years and years. At least with Collberg we’ll know one way or another within a year where he stands. In my league of 15 teams and 35 per team, I wouldn’t want either player. I don’t wait on guys for four or five years…and I don’t want a guy who can’t get at least 50 points.

      • Dobber Sports 2016-05-11 at 17:21

Actually, I just remembered that I’ll be writing the NYI prospect profiles myself – that’s one of my 12 teams. I’m working on EDM right now, reviewing/analyzing etc

        • isle b. 2016-05-13 at 19:51

Speak of the devil (well, Sound Tiger, actually), Collberg was waived by the Isles today and will return to Sweden.

          • Dobber Sports 2016-05-13 at 20:02

Ug. Doesnt’ get any uglier than that

      • isle b. 2016-05-11 at 18:13

I understand. While the Isles have taken their time with prospects recently, it seems like their 2015 1st round picks (Barzal and Beauvillier) have both jumped their 2014 1st rounders (MDC and Ho-Sang) within the organization. With the likely departure of Okposo, the possible departure of Nielsen, and the disappointing 2015-16 seasons for Strome and Nelson, there could actually be a plum spot open for at least one of these guys to seize next fall.

  2. James Lee 2016-05-12 at 11:02

You need to show more love for Lehkonen. About the same size as Nylander and only a year older. Leading the Swedish league in playoff scoring has to be somewhat comparable to Nylander’s ahl season. You have Perlini who isn’t even scoring a point a game pace in the OHL at 62.

    • Dobber 2016-05-12 at 11:36

You know how I know that I’m bang-on with him? A couple of months ago I was criticized for having him too high.
He’s years away from the show. Perlini is not. Wait time is almost as important as upside. Lehkonen is nowhere near Nylander, switch out your rose-colored glasses! lol

What about the Gost? Didn’t you have him rated before?
