NHL Deals: Preds Cup Bound?

Peter Forsberg has been traded to the Nashville Predators for Scottie Upshall, Ryan Parent, a first round pick and a third round pick.

Predators: Are a Cup favorite without Forsberg, so it does not matter to them if he stays healthy or not. Upshall was not needed for a run this year. They will keep Legwand-Kariya-Erat and Arnott-Dumont-Sullivan lines intact. Forsberg will center Hartnell and Radulov.

forsberg Flyers: Get the first rounder they were after, and TWO top prospects in Upshall and defenseman Ryan Parent, plus another pick. Not bad…

Fantasy Players Impacted: Forsberg gains huge playoff value. Radulov is about to score a ton of goals. Ditto for Hartnell. The Preds power play will be awesome – which helps Zidlicky and Timonen. Arnott will see less PP time, as will Legwand – fortunately for Legwand owners, he was not seeing much PP time anyway. In Philly – Gagne was just starting to roll again – this won't slow him down. It will, however, move Jeff Carter back up to the top line to feed him some pucks. I am curious to see if he is ready this time. Upshall suddenly becomes an NHL regular. He has 65 point upside. Parent is a responsible stay-at-home rearguard who may have some value in PIM's (100?), but little else in the fantasy world.
