Ryan Smyth To Be Traded?

The Sharks have been struggling badly the past 10 games and might be forced to make a move if nothing changes. They are losing ground to the Ducks as well as numerous other teams in the West. Rumour has it that they are looking at acquiring some veteran help, as they might worry about entering the postseason one of the youngest teams in the NHL. Ryan Smyth rumours are swirling as the deadline nears.  Many feel that if the Oilers cannot lock him up long-term that he will be moved.  Smyth is said to be wanting in the neighbourhood of $5.5 million per season on a long-term contract.  Teams would be lining up to acquire him at the deadline if the Oilers do decide to move him, but it does seem basically impossible to picture that team without #94 wreaking havoc in front of the net.  In the small chance he does get moved, expect him to have an enormous impact on the team he is traded to.

zettsHenrik Zetterberg has been the best player in the NHL since the All-Star break.  He and Datsyuk have been absolutely on fire.  Zetterberg’s maximum upside is 105 points, but he will most likely be a 90-point player while playing excellent two-way hockey.  He is quickly rising to the level of keeper league stud.

Players to keep an eye on:

David Backes.  Backes has quickly adjusted to the pro game after a very successful college career.  If the Blues move a few forwards he will get even more ice-time and his stock will only rise.  Grab him now in keeper leagues; he will hit 20 goals next season.

Kristian Huselius.  GRAB HIM QUICK.  Huselius is going to be a 90-100 point player in this league, he has superstar skill and the consistency is there.  One of the slickest players in the league, and is following a similar development to fellow Swede Markus Naslund.

Gilbert Brule.  Difficult rookie season, Brule has been better lately.  He has never really clicked and was reportedly not in good shape early on.  Expect the Jackets to ride him hard now that they are out of the post-season contention to see what he can potentially do next season.  His value is pretty low right now so it is the time to make a move.
