Three Way Deal Done

The Blackhawks sent a 3rd round pick and defenseman Lasse Kukkonen to the Philadelphia Flyers for forward Kyle Calder. Chicago then moved Calder to the Detroit Red Wings in return for forward Jason Williams.
Blackhawks: Basically gave up Kukkonen and a third-round pick for Jason Williams, who is best suited as a 40 to 45-point third liner…which is better than a healthy scratch, which Kukkonen was.
Flyers: Picked up another draft pick (they're stacked with them now) plus another puck-moving rearguard that they really didn't need, so perhaps they got him to clear the way for a Joni Pitkanen trade. Even if he doesn't work out, what Calder was doing in Philadelphia was probably less valuable than that draft pick.
Red Wings: Despite this season's numbers, Calder is a better hockey player than Jason Williams and is a marginal upgrade to the offense.
Fantasy Players Impacted: Calder being moved will shift R.J. Umberger up to the Carter/Upshall line which will help his numbers. Kyle Calder could blossom in Detroit and become a 55-point player once again. He'll play with Robert Lang and Daniel Cleary to start. Kukkonen will get a shot at a Philly roster spot…and if Pitkanen gets moved he could actually play a pretty decent role.
