Dobber Sports

2007-04-26

The New York media is saying that Patrick Elias will miss tonight's contest with a…head cold? Hmm. Mustn't be an important game.

The people have spoken. Here is the design for the new dobberhockey shirt:

dobberhockey shirt

Colby Armstrong will join Team Canada at the Worlds.

Yesterday I posted some random notes on Round 2 on thehockeynews.com and explained how I would steer clear of Selanne, McDonald and Kunitz because they combined for three points in Round 1 and were now facing Luongo. Time to eat humble pie on that one.

Henrik Zetterberg does not practice anymore. Detroit has been giving him every day between games off. It looks like his back is not where it should be just yet.

Kevin Bieksa missed yesterday's contest with the flu, while Sami Salo missed because of an injury to his torso.

The line of Connolly, Kotalik and Mair has shined, scoring in three of the four games they’ve been together. Mair has a goal and three assists this postseason, Connolly has four helpers and Kotalik has an assist to go with his goal. Looks like Adam Mair may be that dark horse that nobody recommended.

Sabres top PP unit: Briere, Vanek, Drury, Campbell and Connolly. Sabres #2 unit: Zubrus, Pominville, Afinogenov, Spacek, Kalinen. Each of the above 10 players had over four minutes with the man advantage. Derek Roy also had about two minutes of PP time.

Karel Rachunek, who hadn’t played since March 13, returned from his knee injury. But fellow blue-liner Michal Rozsival suffered a left leg injury and departed early in the second period.

Ryan Callahan had five shots on net last night. He played on a line with Petr Prucha and Matt Cullen.

Detroit's Tomas Kopecky, who had been recovering from a broken clavicle, is now healthy and ready to play. The Wings are pretty jammed up at forward right now, so you would only see him get a shot if the team's back is against the wall.

Sergei Zubov said he will have surgery this week for the abdominal strain that kept him out of Game 7

Eric Lindros is contemplating retirement. He is worn down from all his injuries. He can't retire! He has a Band-Aid Boys club to run!

Ladislav Nagy said he would be open to returning to the Stars, and Armstrong said Nagy would be among the players would consider signing in free agency. If this happens, you may as well drop Nagy, because he won't be worth 60 points next year…unless they get a new coach.

Florida signed Ville Peltonen to a two-year deal. He got better as the year progressed and I feel he can be a regular 55-point or even 60-point player.

I'm sure you've read this by now, but if not: Nashville GM David Poile believes that Peter Forsberg will retire from the NHL this summer. Geez, if he goes, and Lindros goes…and Hasek goes – then who will run the Band-Aid Boys club? Havlat can't do it alone!

Patrick Elias missed practice yesterday because of the flu.

Tom Renney feels that Marcel Hossa belongs on the first line. Hossa scored a goal last night. Very promising for next season – he is reminding me of Valeri Bure in terms of 'surprise' production potential.
