2007-06-11

Thillen19, the winner of Dobber's Playoff Pool – please contact me (dobber at dobberhockey dot com) . You have won the Ultimate Fantasy Pack – free. That's the Fantasy Prospect Report, the 2007-08 Pool Guide, the 2008 Midseason Guide and the 2008 Interactive Playoff Draft List.

Tampa signed Nick Tarnasky to a three year contract and they signed Kyle Wanvig to a one-year, two-way contract today. Watch their roles in camp, as there is a winger's spot on a scoring line open. They're long shots…but keep an eye on it.  55-point potential here, in an ideal situation. (very ideal)

The Bruins invited five prospects to town to have a look. Angelo Esposito, Tom Hickey, Keaton Ellerby, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Zach Hamill. The B's select 8th. This is from the Boston Globe.

The Habs are expected to buy out Sergei Samsonov's contract on June 15.

Bob McKenzie is speculating that Scott Niedermayer is contemplating retirement.

Nathan Dempsey has signed to play in the Swiss League next season.

Edmonton prospect Dragan Umicevic has signed to play in the RSL next season. He is ranked 145 on my fantasy prospects list.

It says here, based on nothing more than a hunch and a few rumors found here or there, that Scott Hartnell will sign with the Penguins…

Yashin's agent has approached Jacques Martin about having the Russian enigma play for him next season in Florida. Probably won't happen.

The Edmonton Journal speculates that Ryan Smyth will not be back. The Islanders and the Leafs are going after him hard, while Detroit, Colorado and the Rangers are all interested as well.

Wayne Gretzky is more than a little interested in Karl Alzner, according to the Arizona Republic. With the amount of rearguards, quality ones, in their system already, I can't see them passing up Kyle Turris or James Van Riemsdyk though.

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – Thanks for Vejmelkmories

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

Keeping Karlsson: Tuch Hunch

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
