The Pens have signed goaltender John Curry, who put up impressive college numbers. Regardless, his numbers weren't nearly as nice as Dave Brown's, who was another college netminder that they signed a couple of weeks ago. I really like Brown's potential, but it will be interesting to see the two of them duke it out in Wilkes-Barre.

Bill Thomas has signed a contract with Phoenix. No word on if it is a one or two-way deal, which would sure be helpful to poolies in terms of wondering if he will make the team…

Greg Jacina, formerly of Florida, has signed to play in Finland.

James van Riemsdyk, who I always compared to Keith Primeau, is now being tried out at center. Then he really will be like Primeau! In prospects camp, he had dominated, setting up linemates Stefan Ruzicka and Tristan Grant…but they couldn't finish. Doesn't bode well for Ruzicka, a streaky player who will be in tough to make the revamped lineup.

Steve Downie was held out of the scrimmage, still recovering from his shoulder surgery.

Andreas Nodl, Oskar Bartulis, van Riemsdyk, Nate Guenin and Ryan Potulny are having the strongest prospect camps for the Flyers.

Tampa's Paul Ranger has signed a three-year deal with the team.

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
