Dobber Sports

2007-07-27

I misunderstood – I will be on 106.7 The Drive on Sunday between 8 and 9 am Alberta time. They do not have an Internet feed, so only the Alberta readers can hear it. I may have a link to the show later on Sunday or Monday.

Just a reminder that I will be on BIG105 in Red Deer this afternoon with Andrew Walker.

Derek Roy signed for six years at four million per. Wow – the Sabres have learned their lesson. He's getting that kind of money, so he'll get first-line ice time this year, no question.

I forgot about this guy…Todd Warriner signed to play in the German League again next season. Living in the Toronto area, I found that blast from the past interesting…

The Islanders signed Maxime Ouellet to a one-year deal as a free agent to be a depth goaltender in their system.

Perttu Lindgren, ranked 60 on my prospect list, has signed a contract with Dallas. I don't expect him on the team this year, but next season looks pretty promising.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is having a little fun speculating on the upcoming line combos. Holik with Kovalchuk and Sterling, followed by White with Hossa and Kozlov. Little was not in their mix, although he will either make the team and center Kovalchuk or he'll play in the AHL. No point in bringing him in to sit on the third or fourth line. The Hockey News likes Little to make this team and center Kovalchuk.

Reports out of Anahiem indicate that although GM Brian Burke has said he would match any offer sheet, he was not expected such a high amount. I wasn't either, he'd be crazy to match (see yesterday's ramblings for more).

Derek Roy's arbitration hearing is scheduled for today, but the Sabres will be working right up until the last minute to get him signed beforehand.

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – Thanks for Vejmelkmories

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

Keeping Karlsson: Tuch Hunch

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
