Here's an interesting one – the Jackets have signed Kris Beech. Seeing as they do not have a first line center (no, Fedorov is not one), he could go from bust to hero in an awful hurry. He will compete with Geoff Platt for top line duties (believe it or not – seems hard to swallow, I know). Either one of those two (whoever wins the role) could get 55 or more points this year with a little luck!

Arron Asham signed a contract with New Jersey. This will hurt Clarkson's and Tallackson's chancess of making the team as things are now starting to get pretty deep on the wing there.

Although Rob Schremp's knee is getting better (after April surgery), he is behind schedule.

Mike Cammalleri was awarded $6.7 million for two years in arbitration. The Kings happily accepted the offer. Cammalleri was looking for $6 million for one year. I'm sure he'll eke by in life with the awarded salary.

JS Giguere underwent successful surgery to repair a sports hernia. He will be skating in time for training camp.

Juraj Kolnik has signed to play in the Swiss League next season. Janis Spruktis, another former Panther, is also expected to sign in Europe. The Panthers did re-sign Steve Montador for the $800,000 that an arbitrator awarded him.

Tampa Bay prospect Riku Helenius has agreed to come to the WHL and play for Seattle next season.
