Dipietro did play last night and recorded a 3-2 win for the Isles.

As reportrd yesterday, Dan Boyle does in fact need more surgery on his wrist and is out indefinately. Paul Ranger immediately assumes 25-30 mins a game.

Tim Connolly is also out indefinately with an abdomen condition. This could mean sports hernia and if so he would be gone for 10 weeks. Band-aid boy alert.

David Backes out 4-6 weeks with knee damage. St.Louis will miss his energy greatly.

Pouliot has been sent down for the Wild. He was only getting 7 mins/game over the last 3 so he was a non-factor anyway.

Jaroslav Hlinka was a healthy scratch for the Avs in their win over Calgary Monday. Just another older European who cannot adapt to the North American game.

Kronwall will be out of the lineup for Detroit tonight with a slight groin pull. Band-aid boy alert.

Darren Haydar was a healthy scratch for Atlanta last night but if Kovalchuk is out now he would certainly be back in the lineup.

The Big "E" is set to announce his retirement tommorrow which is about 4 years overdue.

Anthony Stewart has been recalled by the Panthers while Ray Bourque's son Chris has been recalled by Washington.

Anson Carter has signed to play in Switzerland for HC Lugano this year, and the Leafs let Salmelainen sign with Yaroslavl in the Russian Super League. That will be the last we hear of those 2 in the NHL.

Both Callahan and Straka have resumed skating for the Rangers and will be back within 10 days.

Wellwood and Bell both played for the Leafs last night….or was that the Marlies?? It looked like a pitbull fighting a chiauaua in Ottawa last night. Bell played just over 10 mins. and the most intriguing thing about his night was the bad-blood started between him and Chris Neil. Look for this battle to continue all season. Wellwood played over 17 mins. As a result of both players being in the lineup Simon Gamache was placed on waivers by the Leafs. Dobber is probably shedding a tear in Cuba over that one.
