Dobber Sports

2007-11-26

I should mention this before I get more emails, forum posts and facebook messages – Nabokov is now the only goalie to start every game this year. I mistakenly said Kipper was the last. Now you can be certain that DobberHockey is always right, cause if I ever get it wrong things are straightened out in a hurry by you guys – that's a good thing!

Alexander Semin (ankle) is still expected back in the lineup tonight.

There may be some fireworks tonight between the Flyers and the Bruins. The last time these teams played, Patrice Bergeron was in the lineup. I'm sure you can take it from there.

Owen Nolan missed yesterday's game with a hip injury.

Steve Wagner and Matt Walker were healthy scratches yesterday. I had no idea that Murray had a problem with Wagner's play of late.

Martin Rucinsky missed the game with a bruised right hand.

Tobias Enstrom leads all rookies in ice time and all NHL players in power play time.

Milan Lucic (head) did not practice with the Bruins yesterday, indicating that he will not be available for today's game.

Phil Kessel has just two hits in 21 games.

Tuomo Ruutu (flu) was back in the lineup yesterday but Patrick Sharp (flu) was not, so Petri Kontiola played in his first NHL game. He is ranked 99th on my fantasy prospects list. He played on a line with Kris Versteeg and defenseman turned forward Dustin Byfuglien.

Jason Williams (groin) did not get back into the lineup after all.

James Wisniewski suffered a deep cut near his eye when he was checked into the boards in the first period. He left the game and did not return.

To make room for Shawn Bates, the Isles sent Tim Jackman down to Bridgeport.

Henrik Tallinder will be out a few days with a shoulder injury. Andrej Sekera has been recalled. The defenseman ranks 154 on my fantasy prospects list.

Curtis McElhinney lost his first career NHL start yesterday. Kipper was the last goalie in the NHL to start every contest of the season.

Jere Lehtinen will see doctors today about his abdominal strain. We'll know more about how long he is out at that time.

Mike Babcock separated Datsyuk and Zetterberg Saturday for a couple of periods before reuniting them. He is concerned about the lack of distribution amongst the offense – no other line is stepping up. Filpulla and Samuelsson have just one goal in 10 games, while Hudler hasn't scored in six.

Robert Nilsson was benched for the third period on Saturday, but worked extremely hard in practice on a line with Ales Hemsky and Shawn Horcoff, where he will play tonight against the Jackets.

Ladislav Nagy was a healthy scratch for the third time this season. The last time he was scratched he bounced back and produced. That happened when he played for Phoenix as well. He responds to benchings.

Interesting rumor that Brian Burke denies but it makes sense to me: if Phoenix got Bryzgalov off of waivers, Don Maloney would be a very willing trade partner at the deadline. So Burke is rumored to have told the Caps that he would give up a 2nd round pick for Sutherby if the Caps let Bryzgalov slip by them to Phoenix. Gotta love politics!

Kurtis Foster will be out three to five days with a hairline fracture to his face.

Pavol Demitra (groin) will be back next game. The team won just five of 13 without him.

No team in the NHL has played more games than the Leafs. No team in the NHL has less wins than the Leafs. No team in the NHL has played against more backup goalies this season than the Leafs.

Carey Price will get the start against the Leafs tomorrow night – another backup goalie.

Guy Carbonneau is disappointed in Michael Ryder's play of late and you may see Guillaume Latendresse moved up to his spot on one of the top lines tomorrow as a result.

From the Tennessean: Steve Sullivan talked last week about the physical improvement he'd seen in his efforts to return from two back surgeries, he also pointed out that players have to be mentally strong to come back from a long layoff. "I was watching some highlights the other night and there were a couple of big hits,'' Sullivan said. "I looked over at my wife and I was like, 'I'm far away from being able to not only take that hit, but from being able to be in a game where I don't worry about taking that hit.' "That's where I need to be. I need to be able to come down the ice and not second-guess myself because I don't want to cut to the middle because I might get hit and not know how my body will react.''
