Sheldon Souray has been activated off of IR by the Oilers. Expect him back next game. Roy, by the way, cleared waivers and was assigned to Springfield.

If Haydar clears, then apparently Atlanta has 10 games to make a move, so he can stay on the roster. This may just be setting the table for something before the December 19 trade/roster freeze.

Darren Haydar has been placed on waivers. The Thrashers are clearing room for some reason. Maybe a certain veteran defenseman who may be available because another certain defenseman has recently announced that he is coming back? Hmmm…

Here's an unexpected one – the 'Canes have sent Andrew Ladd down to the AHL. What is this – send supposedly- established- youngsters- to- the- minors day?

The Thrashers have sent Bryan Little down to Chicago of the AHL. Interesting move in that he wasn't as ready as everyone thought.

After 542 consecutive games, the NHL's reigning iron man's streak is in jeopardy. Brendan Morrison is nursing a sore wrist and has flown back to Vancouver. There is a slim chance that he will fly back in time for the game, but the Canucks recalled Mason Raymond just in case.

The Canucks recalled goaltender Drew McIntyre from Manitoba. He will replace Luongo in the lineup for the foreseeable future.

Unable to find room for him, the Oilers have waived Mathieu Roy. Roy has until today to clear. Meanwhile, neither Dick Tarnstrom nor Sheldon Souray came off the injured list, but both are on the verge of returning.

Roberto Luongo injured his ribs Sunday and was forced to become a backup last night. He says that the pain is getting worse and it may be several games before he can start again.

Alex Auld stopped 44 of 45 shots to pick up the win – the Bruins will obviously now ride him until Thomas returns, and perhaps even beyond that point a little.

Marco Sturm left yesterday's game in the first after taking a puck near the eye. He is expected to play Wednesday though.

Both Michael Nylander and Chris Clark skated in the pregame skate yesterday but did not play. Clark is likely to play Wednesday. Nylander will likely not play until Friday. We still don't know what's wrong with that guy.

Brad Richards injured his left knee after crashing into the boards in the second period. He was helped off the ice and was limping after the game. He travelled with the team to Montreal, but more won't be known until this afternoon. Richards has never missed a game due to injury in the NHL before.

Joe Sakic is targetting a return from his groin injury some time over this weekend, meaning he will miss Wed/Thu games.

Robert Nilsson's first period assist gives him points in six straight contests and seven of his last eight.

Fredrik Modin felt soreness in his back yesterday and is back to the resting stage. This is just me talking, but I see surgery in his future.

David Vyborny is still a good week or two away from returning from his hip injury. The official injury is "back", but the Columbus Post reports it is a hip.

Mark Recchi practiced on a line with Eric Perrin and Bryan Little.

After his third period benching on the weekend, Corey Perry scored two goals for the Ducks last night.

Anaheim signed Bruno St. Jacques to a one-year contract.

Loui Eriksson (shoulder) was back in the lineup for Dallas last night.

Patrick Sharp has been experiencing soreness in his wrist and will have it X-rayed tomorrow.

Rene Bourque (broken thumb) is about two weeks away from a return.

Petr Sykora missed practice yesterday with an illness, but plans to be in the lineup tonight.

Both Marc-Andre Fleury and Maxime Talbot (ankle and ankle) will not be in the lineup and are day to day.

Jonathan Cheechoo's groin is still sore and he is doubtful for tomorrow's contest. Devin Setoguchi practiced with Thornton and Michalek.

Comish has an interesting take in his blog on Team USA – 2010 Olympics. Check it out here…
