The Lightning recalled goaltender Karri Ramo. He will have every opportunity to take advantage of a weak situation and steal the No.1 job.

TSN is reporting that Kyle Okposo will leave college hockey following the WJC and will join the Isles. Hard to say if he will make an immediate impact. I'd like to think that he would get at least 15 points in the remaining 35 or so games, along with many PIMs.

My weekly mailbag at The Hockey News is up now.

I'm getting a flood of emails today from you guys. Most start with "I think one of the other owners checks your site so I wanted to ask you this privately…" I don't have time to answer 20 of them, so it wouldn't be fair to answer one of them. I would say use the forum anyway. I'll try and get on it later and answer a bunch of questions, but in the meantime some great and knowledgeable posters can give you great advice.

With six points in his last six games and the fact that he is now re-united with Marian Hossa, Atlanta's Slava Kozlov makes an excellent 'buy low' candidate in roto leagues.

In last night's game, Montreal juggled their lines a bit, with Kovalev playing with Koivu and Higgins, while Plekanec centered the Kostitsyn brothers.

Dimitri Kalinin will be back in the lineup tonight after missing 23 games with a knee injury.

Andrew Ladd missed last night's contest with the flu.

Ryan Craig underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and torn meniscus. He is out for the season and the postseason. He'll be ready to skate in June or thereabouts.

Kris Beech, who has been hot as of late for the Jackets, was benched for most of the third last night.

Columbus prospect Derrick Brassard is back skating and hoping to return in about a week to Syracuse (AHL).

Cory Stillman not only made a surprise return last night – not missing a single game with his knee injury – but he also picked up two points in the final 90 seconds of regulation to send the game against the Leafs into overtime.

Rod Brind'Amour missed the contest with the flu.

The Hawks, besides picking up Ben Eager yesterday, recalled Petri Kontiola, who has 28 points in 28 games in the AHL this year.

Tim Thomas dressed as Alex Auld's backup last night.

The Leafs recalled Jiri Tlusty yesterday, but he was not in the lineup.

Mark Bell played under six minutes last night. Anton Stralman played under five.

Sidney Crosby was held off the scoresheet for the fourth time in six games. Surely he has reached a season low now and things will only improve going forward…

Ryan Malone missed the game with the flu. Erik Christensen took his spot in the lineup, returning from a strained neck.

Owen Nolan was a healthy scratch yesterday.

Roberto Luongo returned from his injury to put up a shutout last night – his fourth in five games.

Martin Erat was back in the Nashville lineup, but the team failed to score three goals. They have not scored three goals in any of their last seven contests. I'm wondering… is Barry Trotz the next coaching victim?

Rick Nash is pointless in his last five contests.

Tampa's Jan Hlavac is pointless in seven and is a minus-8.

Jason Spezza has 11 points in his last four games. Antoine Vermette has six in his last five.

Ville Peltonen will be out up to six weeks now with his broken foot.

David Booth is back skating for the first time in over a week as he heels from his bruised knee, but will still be a few more days on the shelf yet.

Cory Murphy will have a bone scan on his injured left shoulder today. He has been sidelined with a bruise since November 15 and initially it was only supposed to be for a few days.

Jordan Leopold has a thigh laceration and he will – yep, you guessed it – miss tonight's game. If it's not one thing, it's another with that guy.

Joe Sakic is back skating again, but will not play tonight. There is a chance he will return on the weekend, but they may play it safe and keep him out until the break.

Peter Budaj will get his fourth consecutive start for the Avs tonight.
