Montreal rookie rearguard Ryan O'Byrne suffered a broken thumb in a fight Friday. It looks like Mark Streit will be moved back to the point for the forseeable future.

Chicago has recalled Jack Skille from Rockford. He has just 16 points in 33 AHL games, but does have some NHL upside and is ranked 19th on my fantasy prospects list.

Ovechkin had a five point night yesterday. He has 42 points in his last 32 games, which is a 107 pace – still a disappointment in my books, but he's getting there.

Alexander Semin tallied three points and now has seven in his last seven. He's slowly rounding back into form and now would be the time to activate him as he is a point a game guy.

Jason Spezza has a 10-game point streak and has 20 points in that span. His health is the only reason he's not third in my fantasy rankings. He's only good for 70 games a year, it seems. Pity.

Joni Pitkanen was crosschecked face first into the boards by Pavol Demitra and left the game. There may be a suspension forthcoming.

Brent Burns has nine points in his last eight contests.

Jaromir Jagr has 11 points in six games thanks to his four-point effort last night. Your "buy low" window has now closed on him.

Once again, Toronto played against a backup goalie. After facing Dubie and the Islanders they faced a starter in Biron, followed by a backup again in Valiquette and the Rangers. Lost all three games.

Since Toskala went down with a groin injury, Raycroft has allowed 13 goals in under 150 minutes – nearly a goal every 10 minutes.

John Pohl, Jiri Tlusty and Anton Stralman were all healthy scratches for the Leafs.

Alexander Radulov has four points in his last three games, despite minimal ice time. He played just 15 minutes last night, but still managed two points. He is averaging 15:13 per game this year, over three minutes less than the other Preds that are ahead of him in scoring. He is third on the squad in plus/minus so say what you want about his defense – as long as the team scores more than they allow when he is on the ice… they would be wise to put him on. I'm starting to have enough of Barry Trotz. You have a star on your team, take the reins off him for gawd's sake!

David Legwand left last night's contest with an upper body injury.

Ty Conklin has won four straight contests now, and picked up his first shutout of the season last night. He is a good temporary option, as the Pens are going to ride him until he hits a wall. The team is playing well in front of him.

Don't look now, but Colby Armstrong has eight points in his last five games and is suddenly in the running to finish fourth on the team behind Crosby, Malkin and Gonchar. He started the season with one point in 15 games and was scratched six times. Since then: 16 points in his last 17 games. This is the Colby that I've been telling you about for the last 14 months. He clicks with Sid the Kid, he just needed another chance. I came THIS close to trading him for Taylor Pyatt two months ago. So glad it fell through now.

Peter Sykora was scratched due to an undisclosed illness.

Ryan Malone was back in the lineup after missing five games with a leg infection.

Gary Roberts broke his left leg in the second period after becoming tangled up with Tim Connolly. Reserve him immediately, looks like he's gone until mid to late February.

Congratulations to all Nik Zherdev owners. I know you had an itchy trigger finger. I also know that you probably made several attempts to trade him. I hope you failed, because he's finally come into his own. His four-point night last night is a huge statement. He'll flirt with 65 this year, which… on a Hitchcock team, is like 75 on a normal team. It's great news. Now try to trade him, because – star or not – he'll drive you nuts throughout his career (85 points one year, 60 the next, that sort of thing)

Jussi Jokinen left last night's contest with a leg injury.

Andy McDonald missed his second straight game with a chest injury.

Patrik Elias missed yesterday's contest with a groin injury. He is day to day.

Lupul has 10 goals in his last nine games.

Lightning goalie Marc Denis cleared waivers and was reassigned to Norfolk of the AHL.

Simon Gagne (concussion) has resumed practising with the team. He might return in the next couple weeks.

Philadelphia rearguard Randy Jones missed the game due to a right knee injury. He is day to day.
