Newsflash: Kovalchuk is going to be a go tonight.

Finally. LA is the single worst NHL city for coverage and we had absolutely no warning of this, but Mike Cammalleri has been activated off the IR list today. He will likely be in the lineup tonight.

A future offensive NHL defenseman, Alex Goligoski, was recalled by the Pens today. He is ranked 151 on my fantasy prospects list. I don't expect a lot of ice time and I don't know where he fits in with the Pens, given that they have Whitney and Letang. Could he be showcased?

Bryan McCabe hopes to be back in the Leafs lineup on Saturday. He has been out with a broken hand.

TJ Hensick now has back to back two-goal games as he gradually picks up more confidence. He's still getting just 10 minutes of ice, but with all the injuries he is on the top power play unit.

Jose Theodore could be back in the lineup to back up Budaj on Wednesday. He has been out with back spasms.

Marek Svatos was back in the lineup after missing one game.

Chicago vet Martin Lapointe will be back in the lineup Wednesday.

With Sillinger out for three weeks, the Isles recalled Frans Nielsen, Kip Brennan and Jeff Tambellini.

The Sharks sent down Devin Setoguchi.

Teemu Selanne is all but certain to make his debut tonight.

The Blues recalled Jeff Woywitka from Worcester. He has 29 points in 50 AHL games and is a plus-17, getting some confidence back.

As mentioned last night in the ramblings, Daniel Carcillo was sent to San Antonio to think about his over-abundance of penalty minutes. Matt Murley was recalled in his place.

Robert Nilsson was a healthy scratch last night as Curtis Glencross made his Oilers debut. Glencross played under seven minutes, so I'm guessing MacT didn't like what he saw. Expect Nilsson back in the lineup next game and he always bounces back after getting scratched. It's like he constantly needs the motivation.

Kris Beech will make his Penguins debut (again) on Thursday. No word on what line he will be on.

The Predators are giddy with the way their new first line is clicking. Radulov, Arnott and Dumont did not click in the preseason but were recently thrown together with great results.

Dick Tarnstrom has not yet played for the Jackets because he is still waiting for his work visa. He hopes to have it for this weekend. Yankees, I tell ya. Up here in Canada, we have our act together. When we want something from the government, we hahahaha I'm sorry I can't even type that out with a straight face…our government is just as inept if not more so haha.

Radek Dvorak is out for 4-6 weeks with two broken fingers in his left hand. That pretty much takes him out of deadline talks.

Ilya Kovalchuk is doubtful for tonight's contest, even though the team sent down Brett Sterling.

If Atlanta trades Marian Hossa, look for them to acquire the likes of Michael Ryder to fill the void. He's no Hossa, but he'll help. To clarify – these would be two separate deals. This is not a trade rumor (that would be stupid on Atlanta's part, obviously).

The Thrashers website have removed Marian Hossa's picture from the main feature. Starting to look as if he is goneski.
