In a move that may help in landing Brunnstrom, the Leafs are close to signing Brunnstrom's countryman Linus Klasen. The 21-year-old (he'll be 22 in a week) plays for Sodertalje SK of the SEL. Unlike what sportsnet (as well as rotoworld and other fantasy sites) are reporting, Brunnstrom is not Klasen's teammate. Brunnstrom actually plays for Farjestads BK. Nonetheless, adding a Swede can only help. Klasen does have some upside, but I think he is a longshot to make the Leafs. I say this after seeing the opportunities that they gave Simon Gamache, another skilled small guy.

Here's a 22-year-old undrafted player to watch. No, not Fabian Brunnstrom. I brought him to your attention months ago. Actually, his name is Paul Szczechura and he has 13 points in nine games since joining Norfolk of the AHL. Tampa needs an offensive prospect and he may fit that bill if this keeps up. Norfolk is Tampa's farm team.

Cloutier was recalled because the Kings waived JS Aubin.

Glen Murray is probable for a return to the Boston lineup Friday.

Sergei Zubov is still looking at another couple of weeks at least, barring a sudden change.

Bill Guerin is pointless in seven. Mike Comrie has four points in his last 15 games and is minus-7 in his last five. Comrie is streaky and I still think he'll get more than his career high of 60 this season.

Sidney Crosby is back skating, but it is part of "normal rehab". He is still not expected back for four to five weeks.

Rick Tocchet will be back behind the bench for Phoenix tonight. Just an interesting FYI

Miro Satan aggravated a knee injury Tuesday and could be out for tonight's game.

Sheldon Souray will have shoulder surgery today and is out for the season.

Paul Stastny did not play last night, so he should return Saturday. TJ Hensick scored his fifth goal in three games last night, despite fewer than 10 minutes of ice time.

Jose Theodore stopped 30 of 31 shots last night in his return.

Carolina plugger Chad Larose broke his leg last night. The team's lack of depth up front is really exposed now and there are no Sergei Samsonov's on the waiver wire to help them. They will have to make a deal now.

The Thrashers sent Colin Stuart to Chicago of the AHL.

Tuomo Ruutu has not scored in 23 games. He has a history of big second halves, but on the third or fourth line that will never happen this year.

The Blue Jackets recalled Steve Mason to back up Fredrik Noreena. He won't get a start unless Leclaire misses more than two games. No word on how long Leclaire will be out. Joakim Lindstrom was also recalled.

Leclaire will be out for at least two games, but could return Sunday.

The Kings placed Dan Cloutier on re-entry waivers.

The Leafs finally waived Andy Wozniewski in an effort to get him to the minors. I don't think that will be a problem.
