Chris Neil has a knee injury that will keep him on the shelf for the weekend and likely for a lot longer. The knee will be examined after the swelling goes down.

Ryan Shannon has five points in his last four games and is a plus-3 in that span. There was a clause in the trade that acquired him in that Vancouver would have to give Anaheim a 3rd round pick if Shannon played 41 games this year. Since he can only play 30, they are okay now. Look for Shannon to be a full-timer next season – and a fabulous dark horse.

The Flyers have claimed Patrick Thoresen off of waivers. This is due to the fact that so many of their wingers are hurt. This means that Giroux will likely be sent back to Junior. Look for Thoresen to start on the third line. The fact that he is on a new team may mean a decent first impression and if you are floundering in middle of the pack of your roto-league and have a winger spot to spare, he may be worth a three-game trial.

Barring any setbacks, Paul Stastny should return to the lineup tonight.

Frolov, Cammalleri and O'Sullivan really clicked as a line last night, combining for 11 points – O'Sullivan tallied five of them.

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Sergei Zubov could start skating later next week. If that is the case, he may get back into the lineup at the start of March. We'll know more next week.

Philippe Boucher is ready to return to the lineup, it is just a matter of conditioning now. He is doubtful for tonight's game, but get ready to activate him any day after that. I'll keep you posted.

Kevin Bieksa played just under 16 minutes in his return to the lineup.

Boyd Devereaux is out four to six weeks with a knee injury.

It wasn't Geoff Platt after all that the Ducks recalled. They decided to give Andrew Ebbett a shot. Ebbett is ranked 206th on my prospects list and has been slowly slipping as he grows older (he is 25). Expect him to see time on the third line and second PP unit. This is probably his one big chance.

Ryan Carter has a broken wrist – he had four goals in five games prior to that. Terrible luck for the kid, as he had been playing with Kunitz and Selanne – and clicking.

Daniel Briere is pointless in five games now and is a minus-24 on the season. Philly fans are booing him throughout the contest. He should be fairly cheap to land in the offseason, keeper-league owners.

Ryan Whitney has 12 points in his last 14 games as he finally does what he should have been doing all season.

Sidney Crosby has had the last two days off skating, but will resume today. The Pens still are not tipping their hand with regards to a return.

Fleury will have one more AHL start before being recalled. He is 3-1-0, 1.91 and .951 in the AHL.

Dwayne Roloson moved his kids to a school in Ontario and now wants out of Edmonton.

Dustin Penner played center Wednesday for the first time in his NHL career. He will be a pivot again tomorrow.

The Oilers recalled Patrick Thoresen yesterday from the AHL where he was on a conditioning assignement and they then placed him on waivers. He may be picked up somewhere.

Jason LaBarbera missed yesterday's game with a groin injury and the Kings recalled Erik Ersberg. However, Dan Cloutier was steller, stopping 32 of 33 in the win.

The Kings sent down Lauri Tukonen after claiming Matt Ellis off of waivers.

With Chris Simon back in the lineup, the Isles sent down Jeff Tambellini
