Ryan Smyth was hammered into a partition into the boards by Jack Johnson and lost consciousness and was carried off on a stretcher. He later regained consciousness and was walking around the dressing room later before being taken to hospital. Best-case scenario is that he is looking at a recovery similar to Brendan Shanahan's from a year ago, returning for the final couple of weeks. Worst case is he could be done for the year. Or worse.

Marek Svatos left last night's game with a knee injury and did not return. Consider him day to day until we hear more.

Danny Cleary practiced with his teammates yesterday wearing a full face shield. It is possible that you will see him back in the next week or two, which would be two or three weeks ahead of schedule.

Brian Rafalski is targeting Wednesday for his return from a groin injury.

There are rumors floating around that Nick Lidstrom could be out for the season with his knee injury. I doubt that means playoffs, but just keep that in mind in your roto league. Teams don't exactly give full disclosure.

Todd White did not play last night due to a large cut on his elbow that is hindering his ability to move his arm. His absence meant that Bryan Little played on the top line. Little played 18:19 and 4:05 on the PP, but was pointless.

After not scoring in his career, David Krejci has now scored in three straight contests. He is a sure-fire 55 or 60 point guy at the very least, and he could round into a 70-point player. He's always playing over his head, so it's hard to put a limit on him.

Dick Tarnstrom has six points in nine games since joining Columbus – and he plays his former team the Oilers today.

He's not IRON Mike Keenan for nothing. Cory Sarich, the NHL's iron man, is now the FORMER iron man. After 453 consecutive contests, Sarich did not play last night because… Keenan scratched him.

Nikolai Khabibulin could not finish his skate yesterday, as his back spasms kicked in. Things are not getting any better for Khabibulin and it looks like Lalime will be the goalie for the next couple of weeks at the very least.

Ben Eager is expected to return from his concussion today against Vancouver. He will replace Dave Bolland, who has a strained hip flexor muscle.

The Blues signed Brad Boyes to a four-year extension worth $16 million. That should see to it that he gets so many opporunities… that a season like last year is now unlikely.

Carey Price is 3-0-0 and has allowed just four goals since becoming the Man in Montreal.

With three points last night, Sergei Samsonov has 21 points in 24 games with Carolina. His career is officially salvaged.

Cory Stillman has nine points in 10 games with Ottawa so far, but is a minus-2.

MA Fleury will get the start today for the Pens.

Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen play the Penguins today, so you may see a big game from them.

Sidney Crosby will not return to the lineup this week.

Since Mike Richards left midway though a February 23 contest, Jeff Carter has four points in four games.
