The Bruins signed Chuck Kobasew to a three-year contract extension. If he can ever stay healthy, he could be a decent 65-point player. There was a time when I thought quite highly of him, but injuries have pretty much made him a 65 or 70-game guy.

T.J. Oshie signed an entry level contract with St. Louis today. He is the third most valuable prospect to own right now.

Johan Franzen is not with the Red Wings in Dallas and he is awaiting word on the seriousness of his head injury. Game 4 is looking unlikely.

The Stars are averaging 19 shots per game so far in this round.

Chris Conner dressed for Jere Lehtinen last night, but played just 4:17. He ranks 102 on my prospects list and has an upside in the low 60s.

The Hurricanes have signed undrafted defenseman Bryan Rodney. The former London Knight was a big producer in junior hockey, partnering up with Danny Syvret and feeding pucks to the likes of Corey Perry, Dave Bolland, Rob Schremp and Dan Fritsche. The Canes are thin on the point, so he has a shot – especially after tallying six points in seven AHL playoff games for Albany.

The Blues have signed their third-round pick from 2006, defenseman Jonas Junland to an entry-level deal.

The Blues are also expected to have deal with TJ Oshie soon. Yesterday I already commented on their deal with Lars Eller. In the offseason I tend to update a lot in the afternoon.

Budding power forward Jonathon Ferland has signed to play in the Swiss League this year. The 25-year-old Montreal prospect had just 40 points in the AHL and was a long shot prospect at best.
The Ottawa Sun is reporting that Montreal and Minnesota are interested in bringing Alexei Yashin back to the NHL. This could be interesting and I do think he will come back and play somewhere.

Martin Erat's deal reported yesterday has a no-trade clause. Legwand, Dumont and Arnott also have no-trade clauses. Apparently, the Preds have not been reading any of the Toronto newspapers to get a feel for what so many NTCs can do to a team.

Mark Bell was sentenced yesterday to a work program. He will work eight hours a day for two and a half months. No jail time will be served.

Dobber Nation will be up later today – be sure to tune in. Throw it on your I-Pod for the commute home.

Ron Wilson's firing comes just three days after I speculated in an article for The Hockey News about how good offensively the Sharks could be if that were to happen. An almost eere foreshadowing. I'll get that article up on DobberHockey this week some time.
